Im not excited about this year,actually from the archery post I have found that ive outgrown the sport as it is set up now.The hunting regulations are set up to fail growing mature bucks,a true trophy is 4 and a half not 2 and a half and they are just not around,if so that buck had less odds to get to that age than a mega million winner.Two years ago they were going to implement the 4 point antler restrictions and only could imagine what we would be hunting this year.Just wont happen any time soon,I did find out I truly am a trophy hunter with no trophys to hunt and im proud of my ethics/beliefs.I will be the camp cook this year and the kids getting in stand alone this year,maybe he will hit the double lottery and get a huge buck but I know of none around.There is a nice two year old eight he is after,hope he gets it.

Very nice dubleuhb,the big bucks here are all locked up on exclusive property where they manage it themselves,you know patrol it dont push them off the property to keep the small ones safe.Unfortunately the average hunter doesnt have the luxury to hunt like that,they go out looking for a ten point but have to settle for a fork horn.Antler restrictions would fix that,they could/would be dragging out ten points from game lands.Average hunters on average land get average bucks is always my motto.
Those pics are all behind my house, they come out from across the road in the state land swamp and surrounding woods, they like my little food plots but only seems to be early morning when it's dark. I had 6 skinheads all lined up the other morning getting a lick of water out of the pond in the backyard, funny as shit watching them, no bucks..... they're to smart to be out in daylight.
Thats what Ny hunting should/could be all over the state,just need age and the deer would do the rest.

The big bucks move at night, they hold up in thick shit.
I'm not willing to go that route at my age, I just want to spend the time with my two sons, my brother and if one of them gets a deer that is great, I got them and help drag them out. Once they get back to the house we skin them then we all cut them up, grind some up, vacuum seal the meat and share it.
Last year t I took a bunch of the small scrape meat that would of been Hamburg and homemade deer jerky. This year I will be making a butt load of it. Once we get the meat coming in, I will be making jerky every night.
I never had a taste for antlers, but when I got a big one it was nice. It cost me close to a grand to fly back.here, buy a license, buy food, split the gas, and other stuff. So just shooting a deer is nice, having one of the kids or my brother shoot a deer is better.

For the most part. The rifle is sighted in. The ammo is with it in the gun cabinet in the garage. My clothes have been washed in sent free soap. All of my gear is in one place so I will start to put it together over coffee in the morning.
Pretty much let bowhunting go by this year due to everything else needing to get done. Last 2 for that matter. I will be out in the morning with hopes the big night mover in the area gets spooked and crosses my path. He's been playing for three years.

Just got back in, went to make sure the blind I built for dad was gtg, heater ready! While walking back there was already 1 deer eating clover, while I was up there 3 came in from the north then 2 from the East, all ski heads. They chowed down then to bedded right in front of the stand, the other two walked across eventually and hit up the sawtooth oaks, could hear them crunching them. Finally had to get out in the dark, gave them a little snort/wheeze their heads all popped up an they walked off into the brush. Hoping my dad can get a good shot at something tomorrow. I'll take my walk back to the state land and see what's shaking.

Got tags, blind up, seat in, lures out, new Winchester cleaned and oiled, descented everything, alarm set for 5:30... but i forgot to tap the button for it to go off on Saturday. Super.
Got out there just before 7. First shot i heard was at 7:07. Then barrages of them for the next 15 minutes. Lol. I saw nothing. Tons of fresh tracks though right in my lane.

First shots here were around 630. I haven’t seen anything yet but I did hear a bleat and grunt. Never saw them in the thick shit.

I tried to keep track of shots that i heard today. I counted each individual shot and quick bursts of shots as one. I counted about sixty two from sun up to sundown. I wish i knew what percentage of those were successful. I just kept thinking, " Jesus. There's none left"
I took a doe at 0940 while walking around following tracks. My uncle took a spike and a doe together (she was too in love to run).
I went to the store today and bought a few roasts and a bunch of steak. I might go out once or twice, no excitement for me though.
Saw nothing. The land owner shot a 6 point.

Saw a total of 3 deer yesterday (all does). My cousin got a very nice and large six point buck. Seriously, this was one of the biggest and thickest racks I've seen in a long while. Otherwise nothing. Went out for a little this AM and saw nothing other than a flock of turkeys that I saw yesterday too. They were honestly the most interesting thing of the past two days. I'll go out again later this afternoon but I'm not holding out too much hope.
