I've often wondered why the TSA/Airport would penalize a lawfully permitted CCW holder... Especially folks like us who have been through the ringer of background checks, references, etc. I understand folks that don't have a permit, but you'd think a perk of having a vetted permit would be to be able to carry for the protection of yourself and others on a flight for instance.

Always makes me wonder if 9/11 would've never happened if more people on the plane were in fact carrying.

I wonder every day myself. I know there’s critical factors such as over penetration/depressurizing the aircraft but I’m sure there are guideline's somewhere of, caliber, load, projectile etc that apply to that application. Then there is now reinforced cabin’s what would serve as a barrier if they entered the cockpit. But I sure wish someone could have been aboard all those flights and smoked Atta and his band of cowardly murderers that day.

What I would also like to know is why certain airports seemingly allow said passenger to keep his handgun and take it home, whereas other airports throw the book at the passenger.

To me, if the passenger is legally licensed, I believe they should absolutely allowed to take their gun and leave the airport. And the fines are out of proportion to the offense. That, and TSA are “mall cops” without powers of arrest.
