No Turkey hunters on here? I have not Turkey hunted in like 5 years, use to bag them every spring.

I never have but I plan on doing a little this year at some point. Not as excited about it as deer though

Waiting til the yahoos are done. I like to walk, stop every 50-100 yards, call softly until I get a response, then play the game. The last few years have been lean. I saw a nice strutter yesterday with two hens on my way to work. Then there are the two old boys at work, both have 10+" beards, They roost on the relay tower right in front of the gate. They get no sleep when I work, I give them a toot on the air horn, they can't help but let it go, even in the middle of the night.

I'm hunting turkey every chance I get. Sadly, it was only one morning so far.

I just use to slice up steaks from breast, soak in Italian dressing, then put them on outdoor grill.

I roast them up just like a Butterball, you just need to baste them a little more or the meat tends to dry out quicker.

I never owned a smoker, but I bet that would be good. I did a breast in a crock pot once with cream mushroom soup. That came out pretty.

Fall bird hunting is not same tactics as spring, so read up on it to learn. I never hunted fall, but took a few with bow NOT as my target game.

Last fall, I was sitting against an old stone foundation hoping a deer would stop buy. I dozed off and was woken by a trio of large male turkeys only about ten yards away. They were fearless of me. They hung out for at least two hours foraging. I kept thinking, ""where were you fellas in May?"

My luck, Deer in squirrel season, turkey in deer season, and squirrel in turkey season.

Went out for the first time ever yesterday with the young kid across the street. Woke up and it was slightly raining so we decided to wait,,,,let the dog out after reading in bed for awhile and noticed it had stopped,,,so we hurried up and headed out. At our spot in less then 15mins and started walking into the fields to get to the edge of the woods. About 600 to 800 yds away I see 2 deer walking into the field, my buddy sees a black dot and says theres a turkey,,,I couldnt see it for a little bit, then I did but couldnt tell it was a turkey, 5 mins later I could. He hurried up and setup the decoys right in front of us in a way he thought we wouldnt be seen, we set are seats up in the hedge row and started calling. Within 20 seconds I could see the black mark coming towards us. Within 5 mins I could tell it was a turkey,,,I was so freaking excited. It got to within 50 ft of us and we could tell it was a Hen. No beard, never puffed up. Got to within 20ft of us and I was so excited I tried hiding myself better, realized I didnt have my face shield camo pulled down to hide my glasses, my movement started spooking it and it ended up hiding herself in the brush. So then we gave up on our exciting moment and headed more towards the woods.

Got wet and cold after about 2 hrs sitting there,,,packed are shit up, went home and talked about our exciting first day out in front of the garage...

Tried to go this morning but decided the possibility of it getting to shitty wasnt worth it,,,,so now Ive been up since 445 am and know I wont be able to go back to sleep. Ugggg
