New York allows a individual to voluntarily surrender firearms to a designated local law enforcement agency with immunity from the charge of illegal firearm possession
Ouch, that’s a damned if you do damned if you don’t hot potato for sure. My biggest concern would be that the gun was stolen or the serial number defaced.
Surveillance video caught the encounter:Conversation:
"911, I just moved into a new home, and found a pistol in my home, can you come and get it?"
Cops arrive and tell owner to stand back as they check the gun.
"You say you found it?"
Yes,
Cops confer.......".she is trying to get out of owning up to illegal gun possession, and this is likely a crime weapon--- FROM A BOYFRIEND OR HER OWN"
"COME WITH US FOR INTERROGATION AT STATION."
End result in 6 months, is a plea of nolo contendere on 4th degree criminal possession of a weapon, as the PO claims ignorance........a suspended sentence and probation for 5 years is the typical result today.
I almost had one until a family member who promised it to me gave it to someone else that doesn’t appreciate it. It’s a gorgeous pistol with original mags and a great condition officers holster.Oohh Id take a bring back WWII Luger...in my gun bucket list......I'll take care of it for you ma;am.....
Me I would not say shit and hold on to it regardless of type. The person in question seems to want nothing to do with it.A question for those suggesting to toss it in a lake or give it to the cops ...
Would your advice change if the pistol in question was a high end Colt Python or a WWII bring back Luger?
