It’s been the case since I was a kid (and likely longer) that school boards have been broadly corrupt and have a vastly oversized sense of self importance, a trait I’ve observed throughout the public school bureaucracy (less so with teachers, taking a huge spike upwards as you progress through the administration layers).

The district cited in the NY Post article has their own police force of (apparently) sworn officers including a K-9 unit, who have law enforcement authority even off campus it seems. Who in the actual fuck thinks the egomaniacal pricks who typically populate school boards should have what is essentially their own LEA under their direct leadership?! That’s like letting HOA boards direct the local sheriff department.

Time to take a very serious look at supporting your local private or parochial school, or biting the bullet and home schooling if your situation allows. This is craziness.
