Because people seem to think its great that someone was car jacked based on a political stance... when that stance has nothing to do if those car jackings would have happened or not. If that's all it is then might as just well broaden the post to: "let's all post about bad things happening to people we don't like". The reforms she supports are driving a major increase in the type of crime she fell victim to.

Apparently Lightford is a big anti gun advocate as well as police defunder. Funny that her husband defended them with his concealed handgun (which he has a permit to own and carry). Rule for thee but not for me! All these "common sense gun law" people should be forced to be disarmed and their families as well. No public/private armed security. If guns are so bad then they shouldn't be allowed to be protected by guns.

Now, defunding as in taking cops off the street, providing less training, etc. are all recipes for more violent crime, along with bail reform and decriminalizing certain crimes. And no one should be surprised when they get more crime. Just look at the crime waves in major cities, of course this would happen.

I think we do need police reform, less militaristic, more accountability, less abuse. This has nothing to do with BLM or anyone, it has to do with being a concerned citizen that could easily become a victim of the system, especially under leftist totalitarian control.

There is a lot that needs to change in how we police society.

Most of that reform needs to come from the legislatures that made the problems.

Asking police to enforce bad laws leads to bad things. No amount of change in the police will fix the root problem, which is bad laws.

The problem is that government *wants* the problems. That is where their power comes from.

People aren't willing to give up their freedom (and tax dollars) when everything is running well.

So, governments make problems just so they can offer solutions.


The biggest change that could be made that would improve policing would be to keep the actual bad guys locked up. If police didn't deal with as many real bad guys, they would lose the tendency to treat innocent people like they are.

Reforming the police is not just about defunding the police, it's about letting the recidivist criminal element free to roam the streets. The carjackers in one or both of these incidents MIGHT have stayed locked up in jail and would not have been free to carjack anyone, under the old protocols.

No Knocks dont happen because "someone has a bag of weed;" they happen because there is an element of danger indicated with that particular arrest which is deemed to warrant that level of interaction with the suspect

Reforming the police is not just about defunding the police, it's about letting the recidivist criminal element free to roam the streets. The carjackers in one or both of these incidents MIGHT have stayed locked up in jail and would not have been free to carjack anyone, under the old protocols.

That's not the police. That's the criminal court system.

The police enforce the laws that are there. The courts decide the punishment. The courts are too lenient. The police aren't letting them out, the courts are.
