Lets be honest, had that happened in Hochul's NY the parents would be under arrest and charged for not safe guarding firearms with charges of manslaughter pending and a DA would be considering treating the minor as an adult, charging them with 1st degree murder. Yes 1st degree. lol

He needs to do his best though to realize he didn't ask for this. If the two scumbags didn't break in it would be a non issue. I hope he sleeps at night knowing it was either them or him. I hope to never be in that situation but I would be fine knowing THEY caused their own demise, not really me.

To be a sane person, to kill someone isn't the "norm". Even if they had a knife or gun at you. It's traumatic.

It's even more traumatic for the survivor that defended themselves in NY, because you are cuffed and stuffed till the cops sort it all out.

I know of a good friend that had two guys rob him at gun point in his own house, dragged him up to the second floor by his shirt, tied him up to a chair, and demanded money. He told him it was downstairs, and they did a shit job at tying him up and both going down stairs. Got himself untied and got his shotgun and took cover till they came back up and threatened him some more and he shot them both. One got shot in the head and the other guy got one in the chest, slid down the stairs and tried crawling out to the doorstep where he expired. To make it traumatic enough, they "cuffed him and stuffed him". At the time he was 68 years old, now he's in his mid 70's and tells me that the whole experience he can't get any of it out of his mind.

If something I did WAS mt fault, it would bother me, even freak me out. Like when a car crossed the double yellow lines and flipped our Pick-up truck. THAT was not my fault, so my brain said "no sweat, get back in the truck and have fun, no big deal"

On the other hand, when I low sided my scooter, that kinda freaked me out a little, it took some time to get back on the bike.

I have no idea what my mental thought would be if I HAD to defend myself with deadly force. But Im kinda leaning toward....not my fault, not my problem, BUT, who knows. I'd probably freakout for awhile???

Oh, there would be some serious adrenaline going on for sure.

And some serious anxiety for a while about whether the law would agree with my assessment of how necessary it was.

But, once those had faded, I think I would sleep just fine as long as I hadn't made any egregious mistakes.

This is great and on the surface the story is a great ending but let’s not forget the trauma this little boy went through. He did kill two people and I suspect in some way he will be dealing with that for many years if not the remainder of his life. I hope he handles it well but there will be some difficult times ahead.

As for the mental stability down the road for this child....

He will be scarred for life.
