Is this so fragile that it needs to be kept at -70 but degrades at -78 ?

So I'm guessing it wasn't dry ice, but this article suggests they are using dry ice (Dry Ice Is Hotter Than Ever). Sorry to cite a Maoist publication.

Dry ice isn't going to "accidentally" drop to -92C. Maybe some moron ran out of dry ice and figured they'd store it in a liquid nitrogen freezer vessel, but in the gas phase. I have no idea what the temperature is of the gas phase above LN2.

The freezers I used for low temperature storage at -70C were very accurate, and very expensive.

As with everything else around this BS virus, you need chest waders to dig around in the sewage.

It would not surprise me in the least to hear that some engineer suggested a few hundred dollars of coolers and dry ice, and some sales droid lost their shit and said "The government will pay $50,000 for a refrigerator for this, find something that looks more expensive..."

Never saw a -70C freezer that had Fahrenheit on it anywhere, either here or overseas. Celsius is the temperature lingua franca, as it were, of science.

Unless you're really getting serious about temperature, and then you go "Full Kelvin" - that's where the hard core dwells.

had one the other night .. reefer battery dead .. wont start .. need a jump .. no you may need a alt belt or it tighten or a alternator if its not working
fuckin reefer unit was miss all the door panels on it .. then they bitch its a 60 dollar bill to get it started .. then bitch more is 150 for a new battery and another 30 to install it if needed .. yeah they spoke broken ENGLISH ..

As far as I know they are all being ups or fed ex driven. Not sure if reefer units are involved.

yes truck drivers are morons. I used to work in QA for a place that processed perishable foods. I got a call one you’d better come down to the dock a load came in a bit warm. Ok our spec was 45F and we’d get loads in at 46-47F and accept them. Well I open the door and can just feel the heat. 68F. He drove from out west 3 days and don’t turn the reefer unit on. I rejected the entire $60,000 load. He cried and argued with me for a bit. I said no I can’t take it it’s not safe. Finally he said if you don’t take it I will get fired. I said if I take it I’ll get fired and if it’s me or you sorry buddy it’s you that’s getting fired and I walked away.
