1 mile is arbitrary. Why not just make it 1000 miles from every type school ? Anyone living within 1 mile of a school might as well move or toss their guns away. I'm sure a potential shooter, as with criminal, will respect this as just as they have the current laws. More total BS

The personal manufacture of a firearm absent the intent to sell or transfer is well established. Horse is out of the barn, but hey, stop associating firearm ownership with lawlessness! Stop burdening the hundreds of millions of firearm owners for the actions of the few thousand miscreants, gangbangers and other "criminals", stop making law abiding firearm owners into criminals with useless unenforceable legislation that does absolutely nothing to deter actual crime!

Well, how about we go back to basics and just prosecute criminals that need to be, especially recidivists and career criminals, etc. The soft DEI, hand slap approach obviously is a huge failure! Give it a break though instituting ever increasing burdens for 2A exercise of Rights by citizens!

If you were to plot out the gps location of every single school campus in the country and draw a 1 mile radius circle around that and compared to a national map I bet 80% of the population would not be able to possess guns in their home. 95% of urban and suburban residences would fall into this zone.

1 mile is obviously ridiculous. That would place most cities almost completely off limits.
It's also useless. There have been 0 incidents in the history of ever that this would have prevented.
But, just like a 1 round magazine capacity limit, it exposes the real motive, and the arbitrary nature of the whole scheme. If 1 mile and 1 round are unconstitutional, then so is 1 foot and 100 rounds.
