Im not a huge fan of the NRA but........
I know this is way out of line.
The NRA has taught gun saftey and proper gun handling for over 100 years.
When I was a kid just learning about guns, the NRA was the only information out there besides other gun owners.
My family was not into guns and I learned alot from NRA info.
My parents didnt know anything about guns, so when I talked them into buying me a 22 for my 12th birthday, my dad literally contacted the NRA for advice on safe gun handling. The sent him a big box full of pamphlets, magazines and even a VCR tape, for free.
This sounds silly but my dad was 100% gun ignorant but knew how important it was to me.
My dad was a school teacher so it was fun watching him doing his NRA "homework".
By the time I was 18 I had over 30 long guns while still living in my parents home.
I caught my dad more than once checking out my Enfield 303 British, M1 Garand, Winchester 1903........etc.
Anyways, the NRA isnt perfect but it sure as hell doesnt promote gun violence.
I am a member of the NRA because the cowboy action club I shoot at requires it. I hate the constant mailings begging for money and I think they have done little to help us in NY. Your story makes me feel better about being a member.Im not a huge fan of the NRA but........
