Some come with sights, some with red dots, depending on the package.
The ones you have listed above will make a complete rifle other than a magazine and rear sight.

PSA has a bunch in stock for as low as $70. They're shipping within two days right now too. Buddy of mine ordered from them last Friday, and his lower was delivered to the FFL yesterday.

Your friend is lucky. It took me three weeks to get mine from them a week ago.

I don’t want to get too far off the topic but when you guys are talking about building an AR-15 is it as simple as finding a COMPLETE lower and COMPLETE upper kit on a site like PSA? I was looking at their PSA-15 kits and it appears they have complete lowers and complete uppers available. I am not ordering this but just as an example to see if it’s as easy at it appears.. would this shopping cart have all the required pieces to build a working AR-15? Minus a magazine it looks to me like this is along the lines of what I need to order and then have my local gunsmith PIN my mag?

The upper you selected does NOT include the bolt carrier group or the charging handle. You can get a basic BCG for $100 and a mil-spec charging handle for $15. So, you're at $1k with just mil-spec parts, which is why I chose to buy my upper and build my lower with better parts for the same price.

You will also need to make this a fixed mag (you can buy the fixed mag "release" for like $15) or fix the stock, then replace the flash hider and pistol grip.

Featureless is the way to go, in my opinion. I went with the Resurgent Arms grip and it's pretty good. And by "pretty good" I mean, I don't hate it.

I have also regularly practiced speedy reloads using them. From my view, respectfully, I see very little disadvantages going featured VS , again respectfully, featureless. You can have optics, a flashlight, and a laser sight on a "featureless" rifle. The features you can't have are a collapsible stock, pistol grip, front grip, or a flash hider/muzzle brake. For me, as BDinPutnam said, the biggest issue is being able to drop the mag to clear a jam. That's worth more to me than the other stuff. Yeah, I have a big flash and muzzle rise when I pop off. At least I can clear a misfeed in seconds rather than minutes. Plus I had have mags ready to go without trying to feed them into the ejection port like a weirdo.

I was out looking around for an AR 15 today. One shop had several around 1400.00 for the lowest price point. When I inquired if there was anything they saw come through for under 1k he said not much if anything now was coming in at that price point.

You can still build one for a shit ton less... I built a 6.5 Grendel upper with EVERYTHING for less than $650... That's Barrel, Receiver, Charge, Assist, Dust Cover, Handguard, Gas tube w/ Low-Profile Block, BCG, and Muzzle Brake... Just use my existing lower but, Lowers are like 50$, Lower Parts Kit with Grip around $100, and stock with Buffer and spring between $40 and $200 depending on what you want... And you get EXACTLY what you want.

I agree with Jchris... I prefer the features. I also have a BAD Lever on mine, so locking the bolt back to clear a misfeed is simple to do with my right hand. No struggle what so ever... And I also practice with feeders. I use the MEAN Arms Loaders... They work almost as quickly as a Mag change. And they actually eliminate one step in the process. When you release the feeder it trips the bolt lock... So you don't have to release the bolt manually. I get to KEEP my Pistol Grip, Collapsible stock, Muzzle Brake, etc... As to defense... Well, that's what Tactical 12 Gauges and Pistols were made for... And if I ever DID need the AR because of a SHTF situation... The Maglock is reversible in 3-4 minutes with an EZ-OUT drill bit and a Lower spare parts kit... Of which I have 5...

Yes, on a few occasions. In the beginning it was mostly user error. I also had to deal with 1 defective loader. It has been fairly infrequent now, with practice. To out a number to it? Out of 1200 rounds, or 120 times reloading, I would say its happened on less than 5 occasions, with only 1 require disassembly, and again during the early learning curve. I know with a removable magazine its simpler, but that statistical number still seems low to me VS losing very helpful features in a self defense/ home defense firearm. Again, thoughts and opinions?
