Unprecedented numbers at local range today...

At my local range/FFL today and not only have I never witnessed the amount of people purchasing, shooting, talking, doing paperwork,etc...but I have also never seen the diversity in demographics. There were the families with their kids, elderly couples and even what appeared clearly to be a lesbian couple. (Not that it matters mind you, it just doesn’t fit the narrative of demo’s).
Let me also say that this is in Rockland County!!!!! I have a feeling we’re going to have a lot of folks on the 2A side. At least I hope we will.

Well considering we are 100% Democratic controlled I hope they get to feel what we feel and take action on it.
I would say not a single range by me is open unless it’s private or open air. None of these are close to me by any means. There is one public range but I think all the local Pd’s shut theirs down so now he isn’t open to the public anymore. Damn shame. I heard he just redid the whole thing.
I’d also ask you how many of these people just walked in to buy a shotgun and 2 boxes of ammo? Not trying to judge those people but they will allow and support laws to strip what we have to keep what they have. This doesn’t not indicate a positive path forward.

The new impulse gun owners are reactionary and I will predict short memories. The same mentality lives a day late and a dollar short, toilet paper hoarders. I welcome them with open arms but will keep an eye on them since I fear they will abandon us.

Most new gun owners don't see the political side of gun ownership as you can tell by the last election. They think it's all hype when they are told their coming for your guns. So until they finally do come for their guns they will just sit back and do nothing for the cause.

I have a feeling that a lot of new gun owners are going to be surprised at being labeled social pariahs, seditionists, "crazy," and then being told to surrender their newly acquired property because of their years of blindly voting for statist Liberal Progressive socialist Democrats.

Most new gun owners don't see the political side of gun ownership as you can tell by the last election. They think it's all hype when they are told their coming for your guns. So until they finally do come for their guns they will just sit back and do nothing for the cause.

I bet of all the new gun owners 90-95% will keep their same opinions and voting habits. 5-10% will change their minds and vote for gun rights as a major issue.

Rise? Ive noticed that too since they reopened after the lockdown. but even before then they seem to have a really diverse clientele which is great. (lots of jewish people seem to go there)

The most progressive active anti gun nut I know is a vet who volunteers for MDA, Bloomberg, Beto, etc (hell he was featured in some political ads) created a search dog resistant false wall storage closet in a closet for his guns and ammo that he says he will never surrender. Go figure.

went to a range today. it was fully booked until evening. told me, no walk ins and must have an appointment. my fault for not calling and checking.
traveled another 35 minutes to a second location. waited an hour and was able to get in.
on a positive note, fired off a couple hundred rounds i think. felt good. gotta buy more ammo.

I must build a range in backyard in summer, too crazy during weekends.

I have not gone to a real gun store since the pandemic hit. Most were closed for a very long time by me. I think mine were the last to open in the state and they kind of pissed me off about how they handled things. I hear through the grape vine they have about nothing anyway.

No public ranges open around us that I'm aware of. They're still closed. Only private ranges are open.

Definitely lots of newbies. I doubt we're gonna see a wave of change in gun control though. Voters seem to be happy to vote for people with totally different legislative priorities from themselves. I've been saying for months that all we're likely to see is a major uptick in people who say "well I own a gun and I know no one needs XYZ to protect themselves" while they themsleves are barely capable of hitting the broad side of a barn on a good day and don't know anything about the one gun they own, nevermind the finer points of the laws, etc.

My wifes best friends daughter and her girlfriend and their friends love guns.
They are all in their 20s except the daughters GF who is 30.
I dont know if they are political because we dont talk about it.
Several have their pistol permits and the 30 year old GF carries a sweet old Colt in 45 acp everywhere she goes. Shes kind of the....ahhh.....lets just say her GF calls her daddy.

Gun rights are for everyone. IMO women, sexual minorities etc should be more likely to carry than not. Anyone who might be perceived as an easy target should have the ability to defend themselves.


Hopefully they vote for those who want them to have the right of self defense.
