1 million people have since been disarmed so that number has become 1 million defensive uses and 1 million successful robberies.
I will certainly remember this story when my liberal friends talk about how the evil republicans are preventing the CDC from studying "gun violence." In reality the CDC study will be used as the "scientific" basis for new gun legislation. The outcome has already been decided before a single dollar has been spent. This news story confirms it.

Mass shootings are down.
Firearm ownership is up.
Crime in general is down, crime use with a gun is down (murder).
Gun owners are subject to less violent crimes.
In 2016, 238 Whites vs 123 Blacks were shot dead by Police.
Municipalities which "Shall Issue" carry, also enjoy low crime.
More municipalities have gone to "shall issue" than "may issue".
Municipalities which legalized marijuana also experienced a subsequent increase in crime.
Defensive use of a firearm is difficult to track, as many "show & tell" episodes which result in no injury go unreported. The mechanism to record "all" gun use, legal and illegal, is not in place. That 2 million # is a gross distortion at best.

As I tell the Leftist nuts I work with: If I have a concealed defensive firearm and I have reason to deploy it, it is conceivable that a bad guy could run away. So, although this is not the most likely scenario, it is one in which a defensive firearm was "used," no shots were fired, nobody was killed, and a personal assault was prevented.
