Shortages? No. Serious food inflation for items during certain times of the year as we will be buying food from BRICS nations and applicants that will either dump or severely curtail use of the dollar and will require the U.S. trade in either all or a portion of the new BRICS currency. Higher prices doesn't indicate shortages just a shortage of people who can pay which by the laws of supply and demand, cut demand and thereby supply.

The food trade deals we have in place are all going to be blown up.

They would just deplete it like the SPR. I was reading that may NEVER be replenished. The caverns may not hold up after being emptied.

I believe we have some of the largest grain reserves in the world. We have a great deal of storage on farms. Right now we have drought conditions in several states. Beef cattle numbers is at the lowest in over 40 years. This is due to the drought of past years. The government has been promoting reducing nitrogen fertilizer to reduce global warming. . We have seen how the government has handled the oil reserves. .. gone ... Do we trust our government to handle our grain reserves ... Be proactive if you can and store what you need. We have wheat and a mill . Girlfriend and i took a food preservation course from co-operative extension last year. We grow a garden and can the food along with a freezer.... We still can find a lot of information on the internet ... For now.... on setting up a food storage system. Myself I would love to have a root cellar ... I can foresee at least a 3 month supply of food .. To start with. ... We have more.

Folks one can look to my prior posts in this section of the forum .... Food is not the only thing we need to stockpile.. I firmly believe that China will make a move for Taiwan .Thus setting off a WW3 style event. Think of what this would do to your everyday life.....Another pandemic tailored to the shot most of us received .. An EMP type of situation could occur .. Targets have been mapped out by balloon . They have been collecting data on our electric grid and water supply. (done for decades )... Thousand of agents could have been placed all over this country ... Ready to cause disruptions at the correct time. This is just a few examples. Walmart would close up. Shipping would cease. Let one oil tanker get hit and they all stop (no insurance ).
At a time when we should be much more self reliant as a country this administration has done everything it can to make sure we are not. Selling off our oil reserves. Curtailing our ability to produce oil and natural gas. Coal production destroyed .. One needs coal to make coke used in steel production. It almost seems that the democrats have done everything they can to destroy our industries ... Needed for a war footing and response ...
Where am i going with this folks... Food is not enough. Shoes and gloves, underwear and socks.... IF we are moved back to an 1800's lifestyle . Your car and tractor cannot run because China produced the part... Or they produced the machine that produced the part one needs.
Some of you folks will say I will heat with wood not worried. .. Folks what percentage of the population could heat with wood... ??? What about a splitting maul , A pair of good axes. Perhaps a crosscut saw... .. Can you keep it sharp.
Do you have a sleeping bag warm enough for below zero weather without heat. ? It might come to that.
Books have covered this subject.. You tube is filled with folks giving advice.

It also means, no new cars.

It also means once a car, truck, train, tractor, combine, etc... breaks, it's likely to stay broken for a long long time.

Now imagine what *that* does to the supply chain. Even parts that aren't electronic are produced by machines that are.

It also would virtually guarantee the flood of cheap shit from China dries up overnight. Now, that's not a bad thing for domestic production, but if it happens suddenly the shock will be enormous.

Imagine you can't get milk because they can't make gallon jugs because some part of that chain lives in China, and it'll take years to re-tool things back to use glass, or to replace the Chinesium in the supply chain.

Remember what happened to Toilet paper, when there wasn't *any* disruption in that supply chain ?

Now imagine that you can't even legally buy food grown by your local farmer, because he can't get the FDA approved packaging anymore, because some useless plastic clip was sourced in China, and they can't sell the packaging to him without it.

Things could get very ugly very fast.

That's the danger of globalization. When everything is interconnected, then failures cascade throughout the entire economy.
