I don't see how they are anymore prone to be carrying CWD than native whitetail deer, unless they came from a game farm that was shut down for that very reason. I know a guy in Maryland that hunts them, they have a season for them, they are a beautiful animal, mature bull is a dandy trophy, and they are very good eating.

I agree with Robin (Sumbitch!!) on this. Unless NYS can verify that they came from a diseased farm, they should have to explain a bit more than this!!

yes it would be , just have to have a hunting license .. would be just like shooting wilds pigs in NY before they changed it .

there is no season for this type of deer .. its not a white tale .. so its a 24x7x365 unless they state cant shoot at night ..

A friend of mine has a trailcam photo of one of deer. He has permission to hunt some private property in this same general area. These are Very likely escapees from a local unregistered exotic meat farm. He’s a pretty dedicated hunter but from what he says the photos that his camera took of the deer were ALL at nite.

The problem with the hogs, (I'm not saying I agree with it) is that they reproduce so fast, they're worried that hunting them would cause them to spread faster and farther than if they're handled in a controlled manner.

I still don't like the fact the state opened up black bear season across the state.. no need to kill the very small population outside of the Catskill & Adirondacks.
