For the moment. We’ve seen this before, over and over again. It never lasts. When a band of merry cutthroats snuggle up knock over a stagecoach, it’s all yippee-kye-yay until the first double cross, then it’s every bandit for themselves.
It's the type of oil that makes the difference. There a 3 main kinds of crude oil. Not all refineries can handle them all. Most of the time a refinery is set up to handle just one type. You can't just switch types.
Why? Last time I checked the UK, etc. didn't bomb Iran. That's why. Even my 8 year old knows that if you spill the milk, you clean it up.
If America has America first, why can't the UK have UK first? Is spending a bunch of money on a war they didn't want beneficial for them? Nope, so why should they do it?
America doesn't get to just decide what's good for the rest of the world and then demand help for the decisions they made without the other countries agreeing. That would be like me buying some gym equipment, knocking on your door, and saying you are too fat, so I bought some exercise equipment for us to share so you need to give me your share of the cost.... all while never even talking to you about it or agreeing to share the equipment and purchase. You'd tell me to "fuck off", and you'd be right in doing so.

Yes but trump can issue an executive order prohibiting oil exports. There would then be 2 markets for oil - a domestic one for us and a world one for everyone else. As we are mostly self sufficient I would expect a gap to open up with the domestic price lower than the world price.

The NATO pact isn't about attacking other countries or forcing your will on them where all your allies are obligated to join in on the "fun". It's a defensive deterrent pact. The US attacked Iran, not the other way around.

Yea, nobody is going to trust anyone in that arrangement. But the fact that they are even talking is huge.
If you remember Desert Storm, it was one of Bush's highest priorities to keep Isreal out of the fight because if they entered the rest of the Arabs would have taken off.
Now they're giving Isreal permission to use their airspace to launch attacks.
For sure, Iran's complete mismanagement of the situation is responsible for that, but it's still happening.
Yea, maybe once Iran is gone, they'll go right back to hating each other, but at least they have proven it's possible not to.
And without Iran stiring up every piece of shit in the whole Middle East, maybe things will finally get better over there.
