I may hold an unpopular opinion but unless there was a vote held by congress I did not hear about. I think Trump needs to be impeached.

If Iran does something stupid and attacks American interest or they activate their sleeper cells, Iran's oil fields, and their entire economy will be destroyed. Right now they can produce and sell oil. FA--FO and their oil fields, and their energy sector will be targeted next. And that my friends will be the end of Iran. If they want peace, and they decide to play nice, life will go on uninterrupted

To your point though, Congress is the only entity to DECLARE war. The President is authorized in Section 2 of the US Constitution for acts of self defense.
And, do not get me wrong, I am 100% against this action. This is NOT our fight or our responsibility.
