I would imagine some people didn't have regular blankets, just pile them up on you. I have a feeling someone these people had other heath problems. All of us have plenty of blankets and cold weather clothing. These people got caught with their pants down for sure.No doubt a simple emergency blanket would have helped them.

I'd like to see a control without the candle just breathing under the blanket. No doubt the candle will help. Curious to see how much just breathing helps. I've slept outside in below freezing weather with just a blanket just for the experience, it's fucking rough.
^this.A few years back due to a change in policy at work I ended up sleeping in my truck during my off shift. On more then one occasion I woke up in the morning with the temp inside the truck at 3 F. Had a three candle camp lantern that I modified in to a heater. Gave me about 5 degrees of heat overall. Better but not life saving. A good sleeping bag is the key
