USS John Mccain,collides with merchant vessal 10 sailors missing

The USS John S. McCain, a guided-missile destroyer, was involved in a collision early Monday with a merchant vessel east of Singapore and the Strait of Malacca resulting in damage to its port side aft, according to the U.S. Navy.

Search and rescue efforts are underway, U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet says. Officials say 10 sailors are missing and five are injured.

The Singaporean Navy is sending assets to assist and the USS America is en route to help. The collision was reported at 6:24 a.m. Japan Standard Time, according to the U.S. Navy.

Is someone hacking our 7th Fleet? Navy to investigate after USS John S McCain collision

I'm not sure if the navy is desperate to save face or if there is legit concern to being hacked. None the less it's interesting they publically said they are investigating an electronic attack.

Make no mistake, these destroyers are pissing off China and are on alert against NK.

I remember on the crash a month ago tin foil hat types thought there was no way a navy destroyer could find itself being rammed by a giant container ship. I somewhat blew it off realizing human error, complacency etc...

Now with this newest collision I'm second guessing it. This crew has to have been more alert and aware specifically because of what happened last month. I almost find it impossible that a 2nd crew was being negligent and almost think it's more likely something else is going on.

I've wondered about this also. My one thing that I don't get is in the first crash that happened the captain was sleeping in his quarters. So if they were on a full fledged hacking fight why would the captain not be on the bridge. Either way these crashes are very disturbing.

I'd imagine if it were a hack, no one knew about it until it was too late. These crashes are very disturbing and that they are all happening in the same region, is highly suspect. I'm starting to feel like we are under attack already by NK/China. They could be testing their ability to disable our navy.

It seems like if they were hacked they would know they had lost control. I would be hard to fool the steering/gps/locating beacons/radar simultaneously without anyone knowing something was adrift. But if they are it's a pretty impressive feat and it's not looking good at all.

I'd wager it's about proximity. Whatever device they are using is only good for disabling at close range. I don't know what distance the Navy keeps from other ships, but if you have a merchant ship close or maybe on a heading that will intersect the Navy ship it might be possible. The Navy sends out warnings, the merchant ignores and activates the hacking device. If the speeds and headings were right, they may not have enough time to do much except brace for impact.

Then the Fitz then the McCain all struck by merchant vessels, all in the same theater.
