first off, WTF happened to fair chase? tree a cougar and called the client THAT FLEW IN THE NEXT DAY TO SHOOT IT?? wtf is that shit?

Treed a bear, then lite a fire under the tree to keep it there? Who does this shit. Honestly, I don't understand this mentality.

I'd rather walk around the woods ACTUALLY HUNTING than shoot a treed animal. If I never got a animal, at least I can say "it was a wonderful experience, with wonderful people, and walk away empty-handed. If I actually bagged a animal, all the better. but Im not going to hold my breath over something like that

I totally agree. Maybe because I’m not much of a hunter anyway…. It’s honestly more about walking around the woods holding a gun for me.

Baiting deer in to a food plot or feeder where legal is one thing, especially for people who subsistence hunt, but carnivores aren’t usually great eating and the whole bit is just unsportsmanlike as they come.

Don Jr. presents well overall, I’m curious how he got hooked up with this guide and if someone else got wind of it and bribed the guide to do something illegal hoping to stick it to the Trump.

I agree. I that's not hunting. I never liked it.

imo, hunting requires doing the work yourself. Going out and looking for signs of the animal. Tracking it. Or waiting to see where you think it may appear.

Can partially agree. If I trained the dogs and used my dogs to tree and take a cougar I would be pretty happy about it. Would I pay someone else to do it? No , seems most of the excitement would come from seeing your dogs work .

Guess it's a little hypocritical as I have zero issue shooting a game bird over someone else's dogs. Most people have zero issue with treeing and shoot coons either. So idk, too each their own.

From the sounds of it the chance of getting a cougar without dogs is extremely low.

From the sounds of it the chance of getting a cougar without dogs is extremely low.

There's hunting, which is mostly about finding game and setting up a shot.

There's hiking, which is just a nice walk in the woods.

There's shooting, which is putting a bullet in the place you want it.

And there is harvesting, which is about acquiring resources you have a need or desire for.

They are often interrelated, but make sure you know what your priorities are.

If you like hunting, don't let your guide do all the fun part. Leading you to an animal that is just waiting for you isn't hunting.

If you like hiking, have fun, but there are probably better destinations than a sedated bear in a tree.

If you like shooting, a bear in a tree is a very expensive target, and you only get one shot per day, so that sucks.

If you're looking to harvest meat, paying a guide to lead you to a baited bear is a terribly inefficient way to do that.

I'm not going to claim I've never done a canned hunt, but I will say I found the experience underwhelming.
