In a round about sort of way, you are correct. I made a reference to bashing, the bashing that you and you alone decided to bring into the conversation due to you absolute hate of the Christian faith. If not for your hate and ridiculous posts, as usual, this would have stayed on the OP topic.
Well, not hate, couldn't care less, but my hate of what religion makes people do.
And the reason the post went of "off topic" (did it?) is because an echo chamber response was expected, but not received.

I see his perspective as more of a disdain for all organized religions and not an "absolute hate of the Christian faith". Full disclosure - I resemble that perspective as well.
I as well have little use for these herder religions as well. But, I say again, this thread was about one idea, one group. As usual, one person needed to fill in and hate on a group nit being discussed. It's like having a conversation with a child that never gets his way. Not interested in a thread, don't participate.
What if you are interested in the thread, and, as an example, call out the never ending hypocrisy on here in it?

I am an atheist. You won't catch me bashing religion. In fact, when push comes to shove, I will stand with the Christians, the Jews, the Buddhists, the Sihks, etc. when the time comes. In spite of their faults.

Have you seen videos of a woman being stoned to death for some perceived dishonor, and not one person in the whole village assembled to watch will stand up for her? I have. Can you name another religion that states you must die if you leave it?
Name another religion that is currently at war with any other religion other than Islam. Hell, Islam has been at war with itself for centuries, with no end in sight. Sunni vs. Shiite. Religion of Peace, my ass. All other religions have put aside their differences with each other, and are perfectly capable of co-existing. They have grown the hell up. Not so with Islam. You can't name another religion that openly and widely practices the types of things you find under Islam in whole countries around the globe, such as slavery, stonings, beheadings, FGM, child brides and pedophilia, and the list goes on and on.

My take is that religion serves no real purpose any longer with the advent of science. Religion existed in all civilizations to explain the unexplainable. We have science for that now. If you need religion to fill a void, provide solace or a feeling of belonging or meaning to your life, that's fine. I won't stop you or belittle you, i just have no use for it. As some have stated, overall, throughout history religion has done more harm than good. However, to answer the OP's question Muslims are less capable of becoming what most would consider "good" Americans than those from other religions. Anyone who says otherwise is either blind or just trying not to offend anyone.

Of course this thread was going to turn into a comparison of religions! It's titled "uuum? Can Muslims be good American's" A muslim is a follower of Islam. By definition. Since Islam isn't the predominate religion in the U.S. you are basically asking "is Islam compatible with other religions". And since Christianity is by far the most predominate religion in the U.S. you can further distill it to "is Islam compatible with Christianity". How could you possibly have a conversation about muslims potentially being good americans without comparing our nations predominate religion? Had the thread title been worded differently like "can people from the middle east be good americans?" it may have been slightly better. But that wouldn't make sense either since there are muslims all around the world including the U.S. It would be like asking can christians be good middle easterners and then not talking about how christianity is different from Islam over there.

That's the difference @Darth. Your statements on the bad things written in the Bible compared to the bad things written in the Koran is correct. But that's not what the question is saying nor is it a valid argument.
If you compare the actions of Christian Nations to the actions of Muslim Nations, the answer is clear. There is no hypocrisy there. Facts are facts based on the actions of those Nations and its citizens.

Religions can be looked at on a micro scale as well. Consider some of the small cults like Jim Jones or Heaven's Gate. They didn't fit into our society and the end result was they checked out. The Europeans fleeing religous persecution more or less assimilated and adapted to the new world. Assimilation and adaptation are pretty much essential for survival. Isolation pretty much contributes to conflict.
If the question "Can Muslims be good Americans" is answered with "No, because their book has evil thing in it/some in other parts of the world do bad things" then the same applies for Christians.
As you are conveniently leaving out that bit with the Christians, it can be left out with Muslims as well.
As such, the answer to the question is "yes, because they often ignore the nonsense in their book just as well as Christians."
