Velocity Ammo - NY ammo shipping

Received this email today:


"I had hoped that I would not have to write this letter, and we held off for as long as possible, but unfortunately, the time has come.

Velocity Ammo received a Cease-and-Desist letter from the Assistant Attorney General of New York. If we do not stop shipping to residences in New York we face major fines or worse.

Velocity is owned and operated by staunch 2A advocates, and we do not support or like this decision at all, but we have no choice. We will still ship to New York, but we must ship to an FFL much as we do with California.

We will be implementing the ship-to-FFL change on Sunday night at 11:59 PM and from then on, we will only ship to FFLs for New York orders. If there is anything you need, I would suggest taking advantage of the weekend.

We appreciate all our customers in New York and are very sorry for this change.

What do I have to lose? Doesn't appear to cost anything...

there is a guy in the area here that sells archery and fishing stuff from his home garage and ammo too ( havent been there in a few yrs ) but no guns .. not a firearm dealer nor a FFL ..

There are a few I know too. Not as many as there used to be, but some. I go to them especially if I'm looking for old school fishing stuff.

They aren't evening asking anything really businessy related on that form either.

FWIW, I do run a legitimate business, so heck, I could even use that, even though the industry is not even related (based off of NAICS).

Lastly, I've already mentioned this in another thread, folks know who I am even on on here. Doesn't take much research. Folks are a watchin' as they say it.

Agreed, on all points. There are no secrets. If you have a smartphone, internet usage, a bank account and name, you’re on the radar. Everyone’s radar. It only matters if/when/why that radar gets focused on you. Otherwise, as the cool kids say: meh.

(Doesn’t mean I like it or approve of it, but it’s the reality of life today.)

M point is that every company will stop shipping ammo to NYS at some point pretty soon so something will have to give. Guns stores are already reportedly ghost towns in NYS. I did see plenty of people looking at ammo at cabelas but none buying. I was at runnings and they were fully stocked but none were buying. I suspect most brick and mortar stores selling guns and ammo in NYS won’t be doing so for very much longer. I also suspect many will have ammo shipped to an FFL for the background check.
I guess we will see what happens but I think our numbers in NYS will be dropping.
I’m not happy about stuff like this but I will still order from theses places, but not ammo. I’m assuming for many of these places ammo is their bread and butter so time will tell what happens.

I just went to buy a case of 12G target load....I see they wont even allow me to ship it to SC with a NY billing address...DAMN!!!!!

I m shipping to my daughter to smuggle up later in the year when she visits?! Damn.

so now I will just send her the money and have her buy it with her info. Damn... This is crazy......but we see the writing on the wall so the 2 yr countdown to escape is underway!

At the bottom of the sworn statement you have to include is a small footnote about the NYSP making a visit to inspect. That's a hard NO for me!
