I have a better solution that works great in the rest of the world....
Low-Med speed internet for low budget customers.
High speed internet for mid budget.
Let small firms and foreign telecoms compete for affordable and reliable infrastructure and services.
Fuck ATT, Verizon and their organized crime lobby.

Let me give you an example, in Tokyo, Madrid, Oslo, etc... For $40 / month you get a fiberoptics router and 1/2;Gb/s internet symmetric.

Compare that to the average POS overpriced connection you get from spectrum, att and all other thugs.

I pay 100 per cable, I am thinking of removing the premium channels they always repeat the same thing. verizon $ 90.00 netflix other $ 15.00 per month
cable they pay Disney 5 .00 for each customer I think 4.00 to Espn
so every network
but internet pay no more than 5.00 for each internet client that is why they are still in service
many years ago ATT earned a lot of money with long distance calls and more with international calls
now they are free or plans of 4.95 per month to other countries
FCC lives off federal taxes and franchises

I've seen and talked to cable line contractors over dirt roads in the Tug Hill and Western ADK's. Their company was based out of Florida ! One guy thought he'd work through the winter because his bucket truck had 4 wheel peel. Had to laugh at him and explained why the local bars had 6' snow rulers planted in their lawns.

Spectrum is the 2nd worst company in the history of business and they are actively trying to dethrone the king (Consoldiated).

All the cable companies are trying to keep coaxial around as long as possible because they don't want to deal with the cost of ripping it out and replacing all of it with fiber. They claim DOCIS 4 will be rolled out by '29 which in theory allows for 10G down and 6G up. I doubt they will be able to deliver anything like that. If fiber is an option for you go for it. Make them place the ONT inside the home in the basement or a closet and run your own cable where you need it.

I have had no serious problems with Verizon business fiber.

Currently have rectum. We've had FiOS. Every couple of years we either switch companies or I'll have it in my name or my wife will put it in hers. Whichever gets us the best price at the time. They all suck. They'll start you out with some special "deal" that eventually goes up exponentially.

Where ever possible buy your own equipment. Do not rent anything or buy extras like internal wiring protection plans, wifi routers, etc. from the carrier.

spectrum is the comercial name Company name is Charter Comunication , all the big comany are the same garbage now , Like Comcast . Time Warner Cable was a good one

Whenever I hear mention of cable, internet, phone, 5G, Optimum, AT&T, Spectrum, FIOS, Verizon, wireless, etc my blood pressure soars. I eF'n hate all those connectivity companies, terms, services, etc. I only have them for my wife. If it were up to me, I'd live in isolation.

I'd bet if those things listed above were removed from our lives half the drug companies pushing diuretics, beta-blockers and ACE inhibitors (high blood pressure drug classifications) would go out of business and our life expectancy due to heart disease would increase.

I have also seen Spectrum fiber and Comcast fiber. Cannot speak on the service quality, but the installations were lacking.

The city folk will pay more and are much cheaper to service.

Why they serve the rural folks at all is the real question.


The answer to that question is government mandates and subsidies. Lots of carrots and large sticks.

Empire Access. $50 a month. I signed up for their 100mbps plan. A month in, they bumped my speed to 200mbps. I'm consistently getting 250mbps down and 50mbps up. For TV, I slapped a Roku box in the living room and in the bedroom and installed the Spectrum app with a friend's credentials.

I've also been collecting movies. Built a NAS out of an old PC with a bunch of 2TB SSDs and loaded PLEX server on it. $10 a month for a Netflix DVD subscription gets me roughly 15 DVDs a month. Rim 'em with AnyDVD and Handbrake.
