On the surface this sounds ok to me but I’m betting it won’t work as planned or these people won’t get their guns back as planned and these FFL’s will get to keep and sell them. Then again I of course do not agree with ERPO or red flags. I get if you’re displaced for domestic violence and need a place to store your guns until you get back on your feet or if your house is damaged due to flood or fire.

Once a Dealer/FFL becomes involved a whole set of Federal Laws come into play: The owner will have to complete a 4473 and pass a NICS check before those guns can be returned, and I can see where someone who now cannot pass a check has someone else pick them up which could be construed as a "Straw Man" transfer... I would expect the FFL to have a fee associated with storage and transfer as well.

This sure beats the alternative of having the police destroy or even 'store' them for you. We all have heard the stories how the police evidence rooms care for firearms with regular cleanings/oiling and inspections.

I agree and see a few reasons this could be good. I do not think it’s good broad spectrum though.

SCOTUS ruled in McDonald or Heller that safe storage laws are unconstiutional and guns need to be readlily accessed to kill intruders and home invaders.

NYS's safe storage laws are to protect the home invaders and killers, not you.
Kids do find guns....they are programed from birth to do so.............


I myself keep all my weapons collection secured, due to the surprise, unconstitutional inspections possibility, but carry one and have access one 24/7, and fast response is legal, despite the evil witch of the east's hatred of all of us.
