Hi,

I am from nonprofit organization called Morgan Duke Conservation Society. We have a volunteer stewardship agreement with NYSDEC to help with the litter clean up on Cutler Road and other areas.

If you are planning to visit Vernooy Kill State Forest we hope you have enjoyable visit. here is some helpful information. Vernooy Kill State Forest is located immediately outside the Catskill Park "Blue Line" boundary which directly abuts the Sundown Wild Forest. Vernooy Kill State Forest is in the Towns of Wawarsing and Rochester in Ulster County.

Vernooy Kill State Forest is a carry it in, carry it out area If you are going to target practice on Cutler Road and if you are going to bring your own target practice stands and boards please remember to take them back with you when you are finished. Please also pick up the spent shot gun shells. Our volunteers have picked up tons of them.

Please remember it is illegal to shoot at the trees. Once again we hope you have a enjoyable visit.

Thank you James, while I'm not from that area or ever used that spot, thanks!
I wish people would be more mindful and think of the impression that leaves on the non-shooter.
I was out scouting for coyote last week and drove by an area that has shooting lanes set up on state land and it looked worse than that. I'm going to try and get out there when I get time after the snow is gone and clean it up some.
I just don't know how people can be so lazy, you carried it down now carry it back, not that hard.

In December i took ride to Vernooy Kill State Forest on Cutler road and found pumpkins on the bank where we cleaned up back in May. Someone decided to shoot at them and left them for animals to eat them. I came back last month and saw someone cleaned up the mess. Thank You to who ever cleaned it up.

Stopped by yesterday. Not my garbage but somebody left me a box so I could clean up their garbage.
In the future I'll bring a garbage bag and pick up a bit.
