Herring wrote in the opinion. “Neither the Federal Constitution nor Virginia law recognizes any “anti-commandeering” principle that allows localities or local constitutional officers to refuse to participate in the enforcement of state law.”
Three Virginia counties — Arlington, Chesterfield, and Fairfax — are currently sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants, flaunting federal immigration law.

lets not forget in reality these types of gun laws are enforced already here in states across the country. There's always been and will be a start of a new beginning, for better or worse. Is the confiscation talk really even the important picture or more of a feared distraction? People can avoid confiscation in numerous ways like every other state did anyways. The after math is more important once people calm down. If this ends up happening, police WILL enforce these laws at traffic stops, at your local range trip etc. FFL's on the internet and local gun stores will no longer carry or sell these common life and liberty firearms anymore to virginians. That's when it really starts hurting everyone. You avoided confiscation, but now you can't take those rifles or pistols out anywhere, and you sure as hell won't find them for sale locally because FFL holders don't want to go to prison either. Kinda like the safe act in NY...

The moral of the story is, you can have an outstanding initial resistance, but in the end it didn't solve anything. I do not believe that a sanctuary county has any real strength from these laws being enforced. I say this because if Joe Shmoe wants to take a trip with his buddy to the indoor range in town to test out his new AR pistol he never fired yet, the FFL isn't going to want them shooting there with "that thing" anymore because it's illegal to posses. Where there are gun stores, there are also officers hanging out, or asshole FUDDs that support this type of legislation. Any implication that could end badly for an FFL or anyone in anyway, no matter how minor, is not something worth loosing businesses over or getting prison time.

So they can avoid confiscation, but that's really just the proverbial tip of the iceberg if the laws pass. I only mention it because everywhere in the united states that have these gun laws are enforced this way. Why on earth would another democrat controlled state be any different? Also another important reality is that, there are already many thousands of people living in Virginia that will comply with these laws even if they don't agree with it. Many that will also comply that DO agree with them. The pissed off gun owners don't unfortunately represent the whole state. My
