Any new law they pass can be no more effective than the drug laws.

What they will do is make hundreds of thousands of people into felons. People who have less respect for the law and a strong incentive to resist with significant force any attempt to enforce it.

It also means that all existing gun laws will be no more effective than the existing drug laws. Right now, nobody defends their house with anti personnel mines, because it's illegal and you can use a shotgun.

If the claymore is just as illegal as the shotgun, it's a lot more effective.

Jury Nullification is a great concept that could have worked 50 years ago, but no longer.

The .Gov would go through 1000 perspective jurors if it needed to to find 12 willing to vote guilty.

Actually with modern jury selection an unscrupulous court can essentially decide what verdict they want and then assemble the jury to deliver it, rendering the whole trial just window dressing.

Expect a prosecutor in these cases to move to strike any prospective juror who is a gun owner "for bias". And by bias they mean "might not vote the way we want".
