WTH?? I don't know what to say about that vid, I agree with all the above. Normally I'd say the cops need more training but these cops need more training in a new career!

As always, more information would be better but with what we know, the cops should lose their jobs, at a minimum. Lord only knows what this will do to that young mans military career, but it looks like he should be able to take an early retirement.

I always like to see the entire video prior to making a decision. I will back my statement a bit; from the bit of video that I saw, I back the Soldier.

Soldiers have a good place in my heart and mind, like stated, aside from a few errors in decision making, this Soldier did little wrong.

The cop made a few statements that kind of show his mindset. One of the first questions. "What are you, a Private or a Specialist". I will bet that the Soldiers skin color made him ask about the lower rank.

“What’s going on is you’re fixin’ to ride the lightning, son,” I do not think either comment was needed.

Very tired of the media giving context-free snapshots of altercations.

I think the cops went to far. Why not ask for the driver for his lic and reg. And tell him I stopped you because you don't have a lic plate on the vehicle. Didn't seem like the driver was combative or trying to argue.
After the driver's info checks out, why keep him cuffed. The bald cop said he's a veteran. And that's how you treat a fellow soldier?
Then cops offers the driver a deal. I think the cops knows they went to far.

I saw the video and the report on the news this morning it’s pretty terrible.
The temp tag was displayed and the report does state that. The report also states he was moving to a well lit area slowly. At the end of the video the police officer is talking to the LT and admits that’s not uncommon and they understand it. At the end the police officer fired attempts to bribe him by saying of you don’t pursue this we will not arrest you or charge you with anything and we won’t ruin your military career. LT declines.

Bully cops personified..... it is clear that one for sure never should be an officer again- no matter the rest of the video.

I had a similar situation in my past, it didn't get violent.

I got pulled over on the Hutchison parkway, I immediately moved to the right lane and put on my hazards ,I drove about a half mile to an exit ramp because I didn't want him to be standing 2 feet from fast moving traffic on the hutch which is narrow and barely has a shoulder.

He ran up in me screaming and cursing, after his hissy fit I explained why I did what I did and that most my family are police I was concerned for his safety he calmed down told me not to worry about his safety and to pull over next time then let me go.

The entire body cam footage was shown do you still feel the same way?

The driver could have complied more than he did, but the way he was acting did not deserve the treatment that he received. If the cops were is scared as they were acting they should find a new job.

I saw an asshole who refused every request the officer made. He's not there to debate an issue thats for the courts, He's trying to do his job against a non compliant asshole . why didnt he get out of the car? when asked to do so 5 times? How many times does the cop have to ask him? Get on the ground means get on the fucking ground . Its not time to have a fucking discussion .I dont care if your the son of God, you get out of the car and put your hands up .Police have a legal right to use to use force against non compliant idiots .There's a long legal precedent of people getting thier asses beat because they ""didn't do anything wrong"" so they are not going to follow orders of the police. I have no sympathy for this guy whatsoever.

The contradictory commands probably didn't inspire confidence in not getting shot.

#1-Hands out of the car!
#2-Shut off the car!
#3-Get out of the car!
#4-Take off your seatbelt!

You can't do #'s 2, 3 & 4 while you're doing #1

Yeah, I agree the felony stop was unnecessary as far as the present information goes. It did not need to get to that point. But right or wrong, not complying can get you killed fast. Your one wrong move from being killed. then they can write on your headstone here lies Deshawn, he was right.

Thing is, in almost every instance of police wrongdoing , you have a non compliant asshole who wont listen.

Lets assume the police are wrong, It does no good to be stubborn .

I will agree to a point... I made a similar comment earlier in this thread about the driver. He stated he was a bit scared, I will take him at his word. After he made that comment, while gun was drawn, the officer said you should be and made a comment of becoming dead. I would not have left the vehicle either.

Aside from a few incorrect decisions, I will not blame this driver for his actions. Cops were very, very wrong.
