Not sure where to put this; so I decided here.
I went to a gun store today to look at Revolver grips and ammo prices. I went ahead and picked up a Hogue grip while I decide which "nice' grip to put on the gun. Next I went over to the ammo section to seek out any deals. I was pretty happy to find some very decent prices. I picked up 500 rounds of Blazer Brass 9mm and 250 rounds of Fiocchi 45acp. Anyway,
As I was walking around the ammo area, one of the store associates comes up and tells me to cover up my pistol, as I have stated in a few threads, I leave it in an Open Carry mode just to test the waters and see if anyone notices or says anything. I say okay and walk over to another area of the department. (I left it the way it was).
He comes near me again, about two minutes later, and says again, "Sir, you really need to cover the gun". I reply, no thanks, I'm good. I go over to the 223 to check on prices. He approaches a third time that I cover the gun, this time he tells me it is store policy. I ask if it would be possible to see this policy, he says "No, it is not for public view." I tell him again that I'm fine and thank him, for what? I have no idea. He stays with me now, I turn and say "You know, Open Carry is allowed in NY State now. The new law was passed last week." He tells me, he doesn't care about the law, only store policy. I respond, oh, okay. I want him to leave me alone. So this time, I say, "Do not fret, I'm a cop. I am allowed to carry how I want." He has no clue on what to say, so he just walked away without another word.
I was not trying to be a dick, it just came out that way. My point, and my experiment was more important to me than another persons feelings.
This is the first guy in quite some time that has actually said anything to me about my Open Carry.
