WORK PERFORMED IN THE LAST 2500 MILES
Complete front suspension rebuild:
Trailing arms, ball joints, torsion leaves and long tie rod replaced with VW type 181 ( VW Thing) components. Long and short tie rod reinforced internally with removed torsion bar. New components include upper and lower ball joints ( type 181 VW " Thing*), Type 181 torsion springs used in one tube, all tie rod ends, Brake backing plates, brake hardware, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, flexible brake lines, wheel bearings and seals, shock absorbers. ( Tried KYB's for front shocks but they made the suspension too stiff so new oil hydraulic shocks installed). 215/75/15 LT tires installed. Fuel tank and flexible fuel line replaced as well as all fuel filler components and new metal VW correct fuel cap.
Complete Rear suspension rebuild:

KYB gas shocks installed on rear, rear suspension re indexed for increased ground clearance and to match the lift gained in the front from use of type 181 components. ( This was done for me at Chirco Performance in Tucson ) 225/75/15 LT tires installed. Car is actually set up to take 235/70/15 tires. Plenty of room under the fenders for larger tires. New C/V joint- axle assemblies.
WORK PERFORMED IN THE LAST 1000 MILES
Engine: New engine built on a late model dual relief case. Not an assembly line engine. Built as a one time build by a reputable builder and machinist to my Spec's and request, Using new Cylinder. Assemblies and Valve train components. I requested a STOCK 1600 CC build paying close attention to proper clearances and tolerances. This was to insure reliability and longevity. Exceptions to stock are, counter weighted crank shaft, lightened flywheel, Shadek oil pump machined for O-ring, Full flow remote mount 1 quart oil filter and machined -in sand seal crankshaft pulley. Carb and distributor professionally rebuilt. Proper SVDA distributor installed to match the stock Carb. New alternator and German NOS cooling fan, Original German cooling tin and fan shroud installed, new quiet header muffler system installed.
Transmission: Built by "Don's Bus Box" near Mesa, AZ. Late model transmission case with lower first and second gear set. Older style third and fourth. They are a bit noisier but stronger than the newer spiral cut gears. Synchro's welded, steel shift forks, super differential installed ( 4 spiders as opposed to 2) 4.125 final drive and addition of an Al heavy duty side cover. New clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. New mounts, urethane mount in the rear position.
Additional recently performed work:
New windshield and windshield gasket, new gaskets in rear window and both rear quarter windows. New parking light lens and rubber gaskets/wiring boots.
Installation of new window seals (gaskets) and whisker tracks both passenger and drivers side. Replaced vent windows and all vent window seals ( gaskets) replace Pass. Side window regulator with original German regulator, replace fiber board door panels with aluminum door panels, new throttle cable. New door seal/gaskets both doors, New "Day Night" headlight assemblies installed. Lots of workd has been done on this vehicle. Two visits to Chirco performanne resulted in over $2,000.00 alone.
Floor pans are solid in this vehicle.
Car was used as a utility vehicle to run to town for errands, do laundry, grocery shop etc while camping in the desert with our motorhome.
Car has never been BEAT off road. It has seen some gravel roads as it is used to explore out of the way places in the desert.
Car was shipped from AZ to NY via "Golden Key" commercial car carrier.
I am happy to answer any and all questions as well as allow any serious buyer to test drive the vehicle. You will not be disappointed if you do.
I have a truck and will deliver this vehicle within 200 miles one way from my location for fuel expenses round trip.
EDIT: Forgot, Car is wired to tow. No add on lights needed. Tow bar included.
There are four chrome wheels that were new on the car when I bought it. I removed them and put the stock VW wheels on. I will throw them in at no additional cost. They cost around $100.00 each. Fronts are 6 inch wide and the rears are 8 inch wide. They fill the large rear fender well nicely and look great.
PM me or call the Tel.# on the "for sale" sign in the windshield.
