That's the ticket right there. If these companies aren't going to pay cashiers salaries, benefits, FICA taxes, disability ins., unemployment ins., PTO, etc, they'll be willing to accept some loss due to theft. The question is, how much theft is acceptable while still keeping them more profitable than paying cashiers?
Which would be fine, if the price of the items is lowered to reflect that savings.
Instead, the price is the same as if they had a cashier.
I'm not getting any benefits for doing their job.
