LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The weapon used in the Saugus High School shooting that claimed the lives of two students and wounded three others was a "kit gun" assembled from parts, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva told Eyewitness News.

Authorities are attempting to determine how the "kit gun" was assembled and by whom -- the suspect or his late father. When investigators searched the suspect's home as they sought a motive for the attack, six firearms were found at the home that were all registered to the suspect's late father.


"The mystery is trying to piece together who assembled what and at what point in time," Villanueva said

The simple fact remains that the shooter was forbidden by law to possess the gun.
No law stopped him. No new law would've stopped him either.


While we're talking about this case, doesn't Commiefornia have registration?
If the father (the rightful owner of the gun in question) died, did the local authorities screw up by not securing the firearms that were registered to the deceased?
Sounds like they screwed the pooch and now need to vilify the gun to cover their tracks.

according to the Sheriff, the deceased father had six firearms, after he died the sheriff did confiscate the LEGALLY owned firearms and they were destroyed? they still have no idea how this kid got a hold of this "kit gun"

However the only 80% lower I have ever seen was for an AR style rifle? do they make an 80% lower for a hand gun?

Evil people do evil things. The 'tool' they decide to use becomes irrelevant, if not a gun, probably some other inanimate object. Maybe a knife, or a car, could be a stick, or maybe even a screwdriver. Hell there's a whole game about this, it's name is; 'CLUE'!! As a matter of fact, I just did a quick search, and even the number of weapons in the newer version of 'CLUE', has been expanded to from the original 6 to now a total of 9 (Classic version there are six weapons: candlestick, knife, lead pipe, revolver, rope and wrench. In a newer version of Clue the lead pipe and wrench have been replaced by poision, a trophy, a bat, an ax, and a dumbell, increasing the total of weapons to nine.
