Funny thing... emailed the county clerk yesterday asking about status and I got a reply first thing this morning that it was being mailed today... coincidence?

CC-PistolPermits@westchestergov.com - I’ve actually been pretty happy with their responses. I’ve emailed them twice now and each time they responded within 24 hours and have been very helpful.

well, I haven't received an email back, but I did get back my restriction change request - which was denied. the reasoning is "the necessary proper cause for the issuance of sportsperson has not been met by the applicant". So what is proper cause? I listed self protection while engaging in outdoor activities like camping, hiking, etc. not happy right now - but at least soon ill actually be able to use the new pistol I bought 4 months ago. I do have the opportunity to send an affidavit, but just not sure what it would help.
Did you tell them that you actually engage in Camping, hiking, fishing? Did you provide proof of any type like a fishing/license or campsite receipts or locations where you camp? Really sucks you even have to go through all of this crap for a sportsman license.
I mentioned all those things - camping, fishing, hiking, but didn't provide the proofs you mentioned. I guess I will re-apply with those proofs. Thanks for the advice.
Spoke to the clerk today, looks like sportsperson was removed at the request of the captain and public safety commissioner. Reasons giver were that it was being abused - people would have hiking boots in their trunk so they could claim they were going hiking. Sure enough, the attachment for sportsperson is no longer on the website.

This is horrible news! So I'm guessing that the past nine weeks I've been waiting to hear back is going to be a big waste of time. I called two weeks ago and was told that it was approved by the detective and the captain and was on it's way to the commissioner and then the judge, I was advised to call back Monday after Thanksgiving. I did include my fishing license and my DEC sporting license and car tags. Just out of curiosity, did they mention who denied you, the commissioner or the judge? Not that it matters! One last one, how long did you have your target license for?

I would like to let you know that in late June I sent in my permit recertification application, along with a sportsman upgrade. 4 months later, I received my
new pistol permit with an upgrade to Sportsperson. I also, thought I was going to be denied the Sportsman/person upgrade. It turned out better than expected. I have an idea of how you feel right now, and I just wanted you to know how things turned out for me. Good Luck

Sent in another amendment on 11/26, Clerk cashed my check on 12/3 and I received my new permit on 12/29.
For those of us that live in Westchester county and have amended for there 5th or 6th pistol and needed the home inspection, can you please tell me how long it took to receive the notice of inspection, the inspection itself and the new licence. Thanks in advance, I really appreciate the info.
Happy days are here again! Received my letter today, heading over to pick up my two beauties, EDC X9 and my Kimber Jagare. 2 weeks and surprisingly no home inspection! Here's the rub, I received two envelopes, when I opened the second envelope attached to the cover letter addressed to me was someone else's approval letter and license! Fortunately for him, he's a regular at my range and his purchase is waiting there, so now he gets to pick up his recent acquisition and permit at the same time. SMFH
