hello from westchester.

took NRA's Basic Rifle Shooting Course and Shotgun Course (last year). was very helpful [for someone like me who had zero exposure to firearms].

pretty much lone wolfing it to range when ever i get some time. [tough to find time with work schedule]
Bit intimidating with folks at the range bringing their firearms and fancy doodads, and me trying to get familiar with my gun. But got past that.

Welcome. As you get more range time you will get more comfortable with your gun. I would also recommend additional courses to help you get up to speed.

I go to blue mountain. its cheap and outdoors.

noticed, large bore folk are not very friendly. [depends on the day i guess]
small bore, trap and skeet are good.

Try Thursday or Friday. I find it less crowded and quieter on the line. Then again I am a bit of a loner to begin with.

Salt and pepper heavily, grill at 400°, four minutes total, flip each minute to get the good grill marks. Let sit two minutes, down the hatch.

I normally go to Blue-Line but they've been closed for about a month. Due to finding this thread I called Blue Mountain and they're indeed OPEN. Would you guys happen to know of any other open ranges that you'd recommend?

I always go to the range by myself. never bothers me. it allows me to concentrate on what I'm doing.

Don't let the guys with the fancy toys intimidate you. Keep shooting, hone your shooting skills. good luck and welcome to the sport.
