What barrel replacement do you recommend for a 10/22?

My Ruger factory barrel has the front sight cut so far off of top dead center that I can't get a sight that works on it (not enough adjustment to zero it). I do like that the factory barrel will work with any and all .22 LR ammo. Any suggestions for a good general purpose replacement barrel that would take sights as well as scope mount and will take any ammo you want to feed it? Or conversely suggestions for an alternative barrel with limited ammo acceptance?

Not many aftermarket iron sight barrels around, rimfirecentral probably has bunch factory take offs if you post there. I have kidd barrels, no complaints, one of the best available.

Any barrel at 16" will be better than 18" and 18" better than 20" for general purpose.
Depending how long is the factory barrel it may be cut and a sight post can be attached. There are some with set screw that
one can adjust very easily.
In aftermarket is very hard to find a bad aftermarket barrel.
It is a matter of how much you want to spend for a rifle that is not a bolt action designed for maximum precision.

the carbon wrapped barrels have the added benefit of faster cooling and more rigidity but a good one is crazy expensive for this rifle.
Aluminum wrapped barrels similar deal.
probably an average medium profile barrel that is not too long is the best profile and compromise for this type of rifle.

If this is a new rifle, call Ruger's customer service.

but i love the look of this Volq .. barrel .. wish i had the $$$ back then to buy one ..

I have an ER Shaw and a Adams & Bennet which is a ER Shaw made for Midway USA both are really good shooters Green Mountain would be a step up for sure with more configurations of barrels to chose from.

The er shaw i had on my 10/22 was amazing. I was shooting dime sized groups at 75 yards with bulk ammo.
