So liberal politicians (and even some conservative ones) love to use the term "illegal" gun when trying to promote their political views but can anyone actually define what it means. Much like "assault weapon" it doesn't seem to have any particular one meaning. Like when used by NY politicians, does it refer to handguns that are unregistered? Or perhaps to guns used in crime? Or is it guns that are owned by people prohibited from doing so (felons, mentally ill, etc)? Is there even such a thing as an illegal gun in most states? Many politicians in NY claim that they are only after "illegal guns" but since all guns need to be registered in places like NYC, are they basically just referring to any weapon that they haven't given you permission to buy? Does anyone here have any thoughts on this?
