So liberal politicians (and even some conservative ones) love to use the term "illegal" gun when trying to promote their political views but can anyone actually define what it means. Much like "assault weapon" it doesn't seem to have any particular one meaning. Like when used by NY politicians, does it refer to handguns that are unregistered? Or perhaps to guns used in crime? Or is it guns that are owned by people prohibited from doing so (felons, mentally ill, etc)? Is there even such a thing as an illegal gun in most states? Many politicians in NY claim that they are only after "illegal guns" but since all guns need to be registered in places like NYC, are they basically just referring to any weapon that they haven't given you permission to buy? Does anyone here have any thoughts on this?

Follows the same narrative that the liberal-socialist msm uses in their agenda. Just like when they refer to standard mags as "high capacity", as opposed to referring to the others as "restricted" mags. Or when they refer to a "murderer" as a "shooter". It drives me crazy when I see a catalog, gun magazine article, or even gun forums refer to a standard magazine as a high capacity magazine. Hell I've even seen Folks on here refer to a murderer who uses a gun, as a "shooter"! I'm a "shooter", I like my guns, and enjoy shooting them, the others who commit those heinous crimes, ..... they are "MURDERERS"!!

My Wife thinks I;m crazy because when she watches the news and they use the typical bullshit words, or descriptions, I correct it as soon as I hear it.

I'm sorry @Willjr75, but I have to disagree with you. The gun, if legally manufactured, is still a legal device. It may not be legal for someone to possess it in a certain place, but the gun is still a legal item. The person who possessed would be performing a "potential" illegal act under the law.

I disagree. What I'm saying is that a perfectly legal gun becomes illegal in a state like this one if it isn't registered to anyone whether we like it or not. The same applies at the federal level for an unregistered SBR for example.
We may not like it but it is according to the unconstitutional law. If an SBR is registered or a pistol is registered here in NY, it is perfectly legal according to the powers that be.
I can agree with that. I guess where I get twisted out of shape is when the police, or msm refer to a gun as illegal, just because some shit bag possesses it. That very gun, if stolen from it's legal "registered" owner, does not become illegal just because the shit bag is using it. When they refer to it as an illegal gun, the 1st thing everybody jumps to is it came into the state illegally", which is often not the case. That is what I'm saying.
