I am a fan of the Keep it simple. I do not like to tie my inventory up with a bunch of different calibers. A few different ones is all I need.

I have serious guns, and fun guns.

For serious guns I try to stick to the most common military calibers. 9mm' 5.56, .308, etc.

I have a few serious guns in others as well, .22lr because of course. Serious doesn't necessarily mean 2 legged critters. Being able to put some rabbit on the table can be important in a SHTF situation too.

.380 because they carry *so* easily.

5.7x28 because I really really like the PS90

But, I've also got some just for fun stuff too.

Pistol concealed for out and about. Long gun for home defense. Pellet gun with a suppressor for taking small game. 22lr bolt action for taking larger game still relatively quietly.

Last thing I want to do is bring attention to myself. A pellet gun with an airgun suppressor is quiet, can take squirrels and rabbits or even far larger depending how powerful you go, and has cheap ammo for practice and stocking up on.

It was not chosen due to the loss of a child, thank the gods....

I did however, lose two comrads I served with to suicide recently. The statue seemed to fit the moment.

Random question, but why keep a couple ARs in your car. Are they for trusted people who travel with you?

Pistols are to get to a long gun. Same reason I always keep some basic tools in my truck. I’m generally not too far from my pickup so if shit started falling apart I’d have more resources in the truck as long as I could get back to it. Truck already has tools and almost an ambulance worth of first aid equipment in it. What’s some guns and ammo added to the collection…

12 gauge shotgun. Pump, for reliability and ability to digest any ammo I put in it from birdshot to slugs to hand loads with rock salt. A fully rifled barrel, a shorty threaded for choke tubes, and a hunting length barrel to cover all the bases. Also a good inexpensive option that can be handed to a relative novice with minimal instruction.

I am focusing on non powder burning options at the moment, planning on a big bore PCP air gun and related compressor for charging, as well as crossbow and conventional compound setups. Sometimes there is a need to project lethal force with a minimum of noise. In a grid down situation you may notice that the ambient noise levels go down tremendously.
