What is your night vision setup?

Iv been wanting to hunt coyotes for years.im thinking about getting a couple sionyx blacks.head mount one and rifle mount the other.i was looking at a pard 007 but it's seeming like Chinese junk.this will be my first time purchasing nv.curious to see what you guys are using.thanks in advance!

We can turn it into a "what's your shtf night vision setup"?I justify all my gear by saying it's for hunting lol.im really looking into clip on/add on nv devices.a dedicated nv rifle is good but you might want a diffrent rifle for a diffrent mission and no time to sight in a nv scope.spending 10k is not in my budget.the sionyx seems pretty neat cause its colored nv.i think im gonna try one out this payday but im not done.i need head and rifle mounted.all my holo and red dots are nv compatable so the scopes need a couple swappable companions.

This is the sionyx I'm gonna try.it can mount on a rifle with a scope or red dot.i like that photon too!I just watched that video with the thermal sniper.now I'm checking to see if you can mount a flir in conjunction with a scope lol.

A friend of mine recently purchased a Pulsar Digisight N455. It's a digital, so it can be used day or night. It has still photo and video, it has multiple reticles, and it will hold zero for 5 (?) different weapons. The QD mount makes it simple to switch from one weapon to another. I think the total cost was about $ 1300.

I run an old Gen2+ nightvision on one rifle, and a FLIR thermal unit on another. I use both of these for hunting coyotes. The FLIR holds multiple zero's so it can be easily transferred to a different weapon. Thermal is the shit ! It can be used day or night, but it does have some drawbacks - price being one. If I had to choose between nightvision and thermal, I would choose thermal. Both have pro's and con's.

That 500 dollar flir mono is junk and can't be mounted to a scope

How does your buddy like the N455? I was checking them out before I bought my new thermal scope.

I don't think he has played with it all that much since the first night he got it set up. That being said, he seems to like it. The beauty is that it's a daytime scope too. He only rarely accompanies me when I go coyote hunting. I thought maybe that would change when he got this scope, but not yet. I played with his new scope for an hour or so one night. It was very nice, but much different than what I am accustomed to. I'm sure I would like it more if I was familiar with how it worked. During the day it was like watching a movie on your phone, if only a little lower video quality.

The Sionyx is a good concept, but it needs a lot of playing around with and a good illuminator for it to be useful.
A PVS14 would be a better choice if you want to be able to use red dots.
The problem with hunting at night, is that you think having a rig that shoots out to 100 yards is going to be good enough.
I've found that the key to night hunting, is detection.
Thermal is the king at that job.
For a gateway budget hunting set up, a thermal spotter and NV scope would be my recommendation.
For just under $2k, get the AGM Asp 384 and a Wraith 2X HD scope.
Add a decent illuminator and aux power pack and your all set for dropping coyote and other predators.
Better save your pennies though, as after using a thermal spotter, your going to want a thermal scope too.
If you want to navigate at night, a PVS7 or 14 will beat any digital NV monocular out there, no matter what the sionyx fan boys say.
Been there and done that years ago.

Eventually both.i would like to get into coyote hunting soon but it wouldn't hurt to add this to the shtf gear as well.i haven't worn nv goggles since I was in the army 16 years ago.i never felt compelled to buy any till recently either.but I own land with food plots and hear the yotes going crazy when I spend the night out there so I figure night hunting would be really fun.im gonna start with pvs 14 or 7 and a wraith a few weeks later.maybe next year's tax return will get me a thermal scope.i do like the idea of spotting with thermal and shooting with nv

Pvs14 are the standard of the least expensive quality option

Also don't waste your money on 7s just save a bit more for a quality PVS14
