Had some issues with corrupted video files on the RIX L3 thermal, but got it straightened out and was able to recover the recording of this Mus's demise.
Also switched over to RWS 8.2 pro line pellets.

Pro line pellets seem to be a good fit with the Barra.
These little guy's were trying to get something to eat before the storm arrived, little did they know that they didn't need to worry.

Someone shot a video with a thermal camera out on the city streets. Farts show up real good and women aren't afraid to crop dust strangers.

This mus must've thought I was on vacation.
In reality I was so pissed off with the inaccuracy of the PCP rifle that I removed + cleaned the barrel thoroughly to see it that would get it back to it's prior gnat ass shooting rifle status.
Mission accomplished.

After getting it back to gnat ass shooting accuracy again, I decided to test if sizing and weight sorting pellets had any bearing on maintaining that accuracy.
It turns out that my rifles accuracy only requires weight sorting of the pellets.
8 grains of German match grade formed lead is bad news for mus.

I will add more to this post when I use it more, but I'll give you my initial thoughts.

I own an Iray TH50c V2, that I think I paid something like 5800 dollars for. It's a 640 resolution thermal scope.

I just recently wanted a backup scope or a buddy scope. Plus another mono.

I ordered an AGM Taipan V2 15-384 mono, and a RIX Storm S3 35-384 scope. Both of these are 384 resolution.

The scope just came in like a half hour ago. Tried it in my living room, then took it out on the front porch. So like 15 mins worth of use.

I'm thinking I could have possibly scored big on this scope purchase. This damn thing seems as clear as my Iray 640.

So if anyone is in the market for a 384 thermal for cheap, buy a RIX Storm S3.
I've only used it for about 15 mins, but god-damn this thing is sweet.
Totally worth 1500 bucks

I would never buy anything less than a 384 resolution thermal, not worth the headache you will get when you realize you bought junk shit.

*** An update ***

The RIX Storm S3 is a sweet scope for 384 res, but it for sure isn't as clear as my Iray TH50.
My mistake,,, after looking through it past 200yds,,,, my 640 blows it out of the water.

I did sight it in and was hitting a 10-inch tall, 2 inch wide metal hinged plate at a 175yds. Hit it 4 out of 5 times.
Which is pretty good while using a thermal.
Zero on my 223 is 55 and second zero is 175.
The bullet goes up from 55 to a max of .9 inches high, before it drops to 175.


Scope is worth 1500 bucks all day long

My Rix L3 punches well above it's price point too, but it's decent for longer range shooting because of the ocular zoom feature.
It's going to be a rude awakening when I'll have to put the S60R back on my primary coyote rig and put the S2 back on the PCP rifle in September.
Such is life.

I went out last Friday night to look after the farm and to try my new Storm S3 thermal.

For like 15 mins while looking through the scope, it was like I had double vision.
I tried resetting (NUC) the pic a dozen times with no luck.
Then I decided to try it with the lens cap closed,,,, and wala, I had perfect clarity.
I was mother f'ing the whole time when it was bad, because all I could think about was having to send it back

I saw a couple of deer and got the shit scared out of me by a fox. It came up right to the right of me where I hadnt been looking.
Didn't see it till it got 10ft from me. I jumped and that's when it noticed me and left.

Dont have any good footage but do have the double vision footage.

Well I took out my S2 and went over the menu functions.
The left button on the top is the image correction or NUC button.
It makes an audible clicking noise as the shutter is doing it's thing.
If your not hearing that click the shutter is defective.
Your manually NUC'ing it by closing the Obj cap and hitting the NUC button.
That's how I have to NUC my Halo X50 because it doesn't have a shutter.

It clicks, just checked...

That night when I was NUC'ing it, I could see the pic dead stop for a second and the visual appearance change, but it wasn't changing to anything other than,,, like a freeze-frame of what I was just looking at when I pushed the button. That's why you see a ghost image of the doe floating around in the video.

From now on, I plan to turn the unit on with the lens cap closed and then open it when it turns all the way on.
