what type of bullet is safe to shoot in a .357 mag lever rifle? Is the ''chain detonation'' a real thing caused by nose of a pointed bullet (also heard round nose too) contacting primer of bullet in front of it? or a myth?

I'm thinking jsp or hp with a flat nose is the best choice?

Factory loaded non pointed rounds and you will be fine. If you want something with a point try out some Hornady leverevolution.

Hornady invented the FTX projectile specifically for Lever action guns. I have been using the 30-30 FTX cartridges for a couple years and have a couple hundred rounds down range, no issue at all, and I reload my own and I run them "just a tad hot" LOL
