What's in your hunting bag ?

I was hanging out in the garage this evening, just doing a few things to my motorcycle, and my friend stopped by to drop off a few things he wanted me to store for him while he moves. Somehow we got talking about the get-home bag I keep in my truck, and what's in that. That of course led to telling stories about getting "lost" in the woods while hunting, and what all we carry in our hunting pack. I'm much more of a predator hunter than a big game hunter, and the items I carry differ for each type of hunting, as well as where I will be hunting. But I want to know what YOU carry into the woods with you ( and if it's not obvious, WHY you carry it. )

My predator bag has the following items, no matter where I'm going:
1 spare magazine for the rifle
1 box of ammunition
1 red headlamp
1 red light
1 green light
1 1000 lumen white light
4 spare 18650 batteries ( fit all 4 lights )
1 spare 9v battery for Foxpro remote
Marble compass
Super loud whistle
Garmin Rino GPS / FRS radio
Fixed blade knife
First aid kit
Latex gloves
Firecraft
Toilet paper

Then of course, the Foxpro, remote, mouth calls, spare gloves and spare hat.

My big game bag loses most of the lights, but the headlamp and a spare battery are always in it.

A few feet of rope
Extra gloves
A cheap AA flash light
Crackers
candy bar
water
a cheap throw away poncho
If I'm using a single shot rifle I'll carry a couple extra rounds.

My rule of thumb for hiking, camping fire starting is carry "3" ways minimum to start fire. It all fits into a Altoids tin and weights about 4 ounces max. Fire is life.

You might want to consider multiple containers. Even if you have 3 ways, if you drop the container with all 3 ways, you now have zero ways.

I don't carry much, as I don't have to go very far when I hunt. Typically I just carry a stupid amount of extra ammo (because I rarely actually shoot at anything), some water, some snacks, and a pad to sit on. I also carry my cell phone on me.

I usually have one in my pocket and the rest in my knapsack. If I make it back to my vehicle more there. It's a lot of work under ideal conditions but I can also do primitive fire starting. Last resort.

I don't worry about a compass or fire making in normal situations because I hunt my own property. BUT the few times I hunt in the ADK then I went prepared.
