Cleck
.308 Win
Got into an interesting and predictable discussion w/ someone on Twitter yesterday, came down to us both being about guns, but he's not for AR's. I ask him why, he says you don't need that kind of "power" to hunt deer with. I tell him I live in NY (I assumed he lived in MN because we're Vikings fans) and that our AR's are heavily regulated here - I can't have more than 5rds in one if I was hunting (right?) with one, one shot each still, I can't have detachable mags, etc. I tell him I bolt hunt w/ a 308 and I know a friend who hunts fox on his property to protect his farm, using his AR. I tell him why it's a better platform for hunting for follow-up shots, easier to track smaller targets at longer distances, recoil, etc. His response? "Also lol...you don't need that power to kill small game. Build a better chicken coop, become a better shot, hunt w/ dogs. If a man gets outfoxed by a fox, he's an idiot." I ask (told him basically) that he doesn't hunt obviously so I wanna know more about this "power" he claims. I tell him, should I go hunting w/ this 308 I use in my bolt? That would annihilate a fox, but if that's what he wants me to do...then I posted a picture comparing the kinetic energy of a 308 round at distances matched by 223 and the bleed off of both (more specifically and dramatically, the 223). Do I wanna hunt with a 308 and obliterate my target just because he doesn't like my AR? Should I have told him I wanna make an AR10?
He then realizes that the 308 is much more powerful and goes, Never said that, Obviously you don't use the same thing for fox as deer, it would disintegrate it. Obviously he doesn't know shit about guns, and his arguments kinda fell apart after that. Come to find out he lives in NYC, so that says a lot. He said a whole bunch of other shit too which I didn't even get to address, but I don't think it's even worth my time.
