Where to butcher deer in westchester

Hello everyone, so opening day is coming up and this will be my first time hunting, I will be with a group of experienced hunters. The problem I will have is if I ever fill my tag, I dont know where to have them butchered and processed.

I actually want to do it myself but cant do it in my house. The garage is packed and I dont have a backyard. My friend said we can probably do it in his house but he still wasnt sure cause his wife hasnt approved of it yet.

So if we wont have a place to do it. Can anyone recommend a place in westchester for processing?

+1 Don't let them grow up thinking that harvesting food is sterile and sanitary. Their cheeseburger went through a very similar process and they should know and accept that.

I haven't hunted in later years but still help process a number of deer, turkeys, hogs. I've a couple of post mortem deer slugs on my reloading bench. I think one of the deer had a little chrome and radiator fluid on it once.

I'd probably see if you can at least take the meat off the carcass at your buddy's house. If that doesn't work, take off the meat like you would an elk or moose (with it laying on the ground). Take off the tender loins, front shoulders with bone attached,bone out the back legs, take out the backstraps, and then take off the neck meat. Throw everything into a cooler. Take it home and process the meat on your table using a large cutting board. You can find them big enough that you can easily fit an entire front shoulder on.

There are a few guys in Putnam that will process it for you. Just drop off the kill and pick up the meat a few days later. I'll see if I can find a phone number and post it.

Have you tried your LGS where they sell hunting licenses? Some times the butcher & taxidermist leaves their business card/flyer at the LGS this time of year for the business.
