Where to get firearm pricing?

My co-worker is culling some of his gun collection and we're trying to find current values to reasonably price them.

I checked Gunbroker and the sold prices vary a bit.
One pistol ( S&W CS45 Chief Special) had 3 sold units and prices varied by $14o.

Is there another place to get current pricing?

Sold prices on GB for those perticular guns are usually not too far off on what people will pay for them. Next, look at the condition description for the guns that actually sold at those prices and have your buddy price his accordingly. He could also try selling them for a fixed price in the classifieds on the smith-wessonforum site.
He would obviously need to become a member if he isn’t already.

The BDL is older and has the gloss finish on both the furniture & bluing.
the CDL has the satin finish .
I'm going off of memory and think the BDL has a B prefix on the serial number, the CDL has a G.

I am reading the Rem 700 serial # info page and will get the year of manufacture in the morning.

You can’t go wrong with the Marlin 336 in .35 remington. That is definitely a JM gun. I own both the 30-30 & .35 Rem. Model 336’s and they are excellent lever guns. Both JM stamped and of the early 70’s vintage.

Oh, absolutely agreed. It's a caliber and application consideration on my part. I consider the 35 Rem a superior cartridge generally but where and how I'd be using it (and considering other rifles I have), 30-30 is more than adequate and more readily available. I have a Win 1894 (1965) I got practically for free, but I have wanted a nice JM 336 in 30-30 for a long time.

Selling sites are a good way to gauge value only if you look at what actually sold. There are a lot that have been listed for months and don't receive a single bid so you would be better off looking at what people actually paid for most firearms. Blue book pricing is good if you want to sell fast, don't expect a dealer to give top money for something that will tie up their money for an extended amount of time while they try to make a few bucks on it. Most FFL's will sell on consignment for you and then you will get the feel for just how long they have to sit on their money to recoup a fair profit.

Sometimes. I’ve found that it can go both ways. You just have to be patient and willing to walk away from an auction if it exceeds your top price.
