Which .357 cc revolver

I am looking for a snub revolver for my first wheel gun. I am torn between the lightweight M&P340 and the Kimber K6S. The Kimber seems to have all my needs covered including 6 shots, 3 dot sights and enough heft for .357, but this is a carry gun and will not see much range time. My purpose of .357 is for when camping in the Adirondacks.

Just curious what others think.

Conseals fine, especially for camping.

I also have an SP101 3 inch that conseals better and has plenty of weight for hot 357 loads. Just not as accurate or comfortable.

I have a S&W Mod 60, nice compact gun. It's stainless so has some weight behind it. Still hurts shooting .357 MAG, lol...

Lcr 357 works great even in bball shorts. I mainly use 38 +p but 357s arent horrible

My favorite carry gun is my Smith 642, EveryDay/AllDay. Best $400 I ever spent on a carry gun.

I have a 340PD. Been carrying it for 15 years or so. Super lightweight. Simple carry and is a BEAST to shoot in .357 magnum. Your hand gets really sore after 5 shots but if you are just carrying it in the Adirondacks for 4 legged creatures then it won't be too bad. For self defense I carry 38+P PDX1. I can at least do follow up shots

Handle the Kimber before you buy it!
I wasn't gonna buy it, but wanted to fondle it. I may be too used to smith revolvers, i didn't like it.
For the amount of cash, i didn't like it.

Love the Model 60 or the LCR, not a fan of SP101 trigger!

If you're settled on the S&W or the Kimber, I don't have any input.

But if you're open to suggestions, consider the LCR. I have one that I carry frequently. I can ring a 8" steel gong with it at 35 yards. The sights and trigger are decent out of the box.

I have an S&W 649. Only 5 shots though. My suggestion on what ever you choose don't regularly shoot .357 out of it. Especially a snub nose revolver. You can feel that stuff in your teeth when you fire it. If you're looking for self defense consider firing .38 Special +P out of it instead.

A light weight with magnum loads is a little crazy to say the least. Think of putting your hand on a work bench and hitting it with a hammer

I too have the 340PD .357 Mag. Will only shoot .38 +p, too much with .357 mag. Currently sits in AZ because my best carry is a Ruger SP101, small enough to carry all the time, heavy enough to shoot 38 and 357 accurately. Follow up shots are easier than the 340PD.
For me the Kimber is too expensive, an SP101 is perfect at right around $550. I've got the Wiley Clapp edition.

I still like my 5 shot Sp101 with it's 2.25 barrel, although I felt the need to put on an extended grip that gave me three fingers, so I put on a CTC Model LG303 extended laser grip.

Later, I came across a good deal on a nice used Smith Model 66 with a 2.5" barrel with a Hogue Monogrip, - a stainless 6 shot version of the Model 19. Just a bit bigger and harder to conceal than the SP101.

Just bought a Kimber K6s and my wife has decided she is going to carry it. My favorite carry revolver is my S&W 686+ 3" barrel. Great trigger, good weight for the .357 mag and it holds 7 rounds. I love that revolver. I also have a Ruger SP101 and a couple of Ruger GP100's . They are also extremely nice revolvers.

I will throw another vote in for checking out the LCR. Sights are decent for what they are, trigger is smooth, and 357's don't hurt (that much).

Be sure to get some 158 gr .357 Mag Buffalo Bore ammo and shoot that first . . .



No, really, I DO like my 340 PD. I think you will love it's carry weight.

I know this post is probably of no help but I am going to start carrying my SW 627 PC as soon as I can get my permit upgraded.

8 shot N frame 2 5/8th barrel. we will see how long I actually carry it. lol
