You would need a different slide as well (oh and a different ejector)

Yeah scratch number 5 I got it backwards. You can do going from 40 to 9.

It would, but now I'm annoyed that the P10F doesn't seem available!Blimey,
Summary:
Glock: Like them fine, but actually dislike the rear site being squared off with a circular front (none of the other guns had this)
VP9: felt great, disliked mag release
SW MP: Very nice, don't like thumb safety
CZ P10C: no complaints at all
Looks like you found it.

I think I'm too impatient for that at the momentThey will be rolling out soon hopefully

I'm leaning toward the 17 or the 34. The 17 is appreciably cheaper, but I just cannot even see ever carrying it, so the extra $100 or whatever for the 34 may be worth it. I can get both locally now "on sale".
This is a good point. Hoping to make a decision today before I dwell on it excessively. The good news is if you get the 17 or the 34 both can be easily switched to the other later down the road,
Personally I would suggest the 34 and a good set of sights
I know. I thought about that, but please don't tempt meU know, u could buy 3-4 hi point jhp for the price of a Glock

I would love to love Glocks because they are everywhere and you can get every aftermarket part imaginable. I just can't get comfortable with the grip angle.
I don't even have money left in the budget for ammo now.Congratulations on the tupperware!
What are you getting next?
Budget? What's that?I don't even have money left in the budget for ammo now.
That's why I buy a couple of boxes at a time and stash them for a rainy day.I don't even have money left in the budget for ammo now.
I have not heard of this place until your post. It's really close to me, too. Will definitely keep this place in mind. That's why I buy a couple of boxes at a time and stash them for a rainy day.
I knew you were in the Rochester area, but I didn't realize you were in Wayne County. I could have brought my 34 and my 17 to work yesterday and we could have met up to burn some powder at Eastside Traders.
Alrighty, I took the advice to go try some today! Firing pin's selection is extensive.
First tried Glock 17L, which is a close approximation to the 34 (they didn't have one). I'm an amateur with pistols so I can't really pretend it was "really accurate". I'm sure it was, but I'm not.
Next up a gen 4 and 5 Glock 19. The trigger on the 4 was yucky and I'm sure this was just because the gun needed to be cleaned. I only got one shot off on that because the Gen 5 mag did not take in it, so loaded one into the top for fun. I guess these are just the same as a 17 except smaller sight radius.
Next up was the HK VP9, which felt amazing. The grip on it really is nice. I absolutely hated the mag release. I think my hands are average size but it is impossible to hit it with my thumb without really twisting the gun a lot. I see online a lot of people use their trigger or middle finger to release it from the other side, which seems a good idea but potentially unsafe. I guess a person could get used to it. Guy said HK is supposed to be coming out with a grip-button release.
Then came the SW MP (something or other--not sure on model). This gun felt awesome, with nice stipling in the handle. My only issue was the thumb safety and I realize I do not like them. Again, I'm a newb, I could probably get used to one, but for a range gun it seems particularly pointless.
Lastly CZ P10C, which I liked a lot and had no complaints about.

I see above that there is a version of the SW MP 2.0 without a thumb safety, and the damn things are cheap. This could be a contender, or the CZ P10C.
However, all of these guns I suspect will be less accurate than the Glock 34 (unless I put optics on) due to the smaller site radius.
I'm not surprised to have found that all of them overall got the job done. I also handled, but did not fire, the P75 CZ, which is all metal and very heavy.

And this concludes the thread. Thank you for everyone's input. It's quite the PITA having to buy a gun then cross half the state to get to the clerk's office, pay to get the gun added, then back to pick it up, but other than all the driving I did pick it up quickly.

So, piece by piece you can make it into the gun you wanted.
