I'm on the Mobil 1 bandwagon. It works well and doesn't gum up in very low temperatures. I do quite a bit of repairs and refurbishments in addition to normal maintenance, and I'll bet one quart will last me ten years.

Yes same here only I use synthetic 5w-20.
As it doesn’t thicken up like conventional oil and slow the slide down in cold weather.
l don’t think that the type of oil is that critical as long as it prevents metal to metal contact and depending on how much crap the environmental conditions ad to the mix ( dirt ,sand , dust etc) less is definitely more.
There are a slew of good products out there, take your pick.

like a 10-30 is perfect.
having a clean and lightly lubed gun is more important than brands or anything else.
any chromed, teflon or melonited parts will ask for even less oil.

No oil. Its not good for the wood.
Ballistol or Renaissance Wax. Ballistol for more regularly used rifles & shotguns. Wax if I'm not likely to play with it for a while.

I use a spray wax, it's like a light duty detail wax. It's what I use on the painted surfaces of my Indian motorcycle, and on the lexan (I think it's lexan) windshield. It's safe for the clear coat finishes used on todays vehicles so I expect it's ok for the likely harder more durable gun furniture finishes. Then long guns go into their "socks" and hand guns go into socks... real human socks LOL.
My forearms are always wiped.

For my guns with wooden stocks, if I'm using it regularly I use Lemon pledge on it after cleaning, if I'm taking it out of the rotation for a while I use a good quality hardwood paste wax like Johnsons. Either way, once a year they all get the wax treatment, that time is approaching.
