While the Debate distracts - Massachusetts vastly expands Bottle Bill

You've got to hand it to the Communists. Introduce a new tax while the public is distracted.

In the past few days Beacon Hill has stealth-passed a new Bottle Bill, right under our nose.

In Massachusetts, the deposit for any container never returned goes straight to State Treasury. Not to the stores, as the uninformed might imagine.

So doubling the deposit from five to ten cents, while expanding containers affected to Wine, Liquor, and Water Bottles, has the potential to vastly increase revenue.

A typical case of water in Eastern Mass will increase from $3.50 to $5.90. That's Bidenomics, baby !

When I was a young rascal, we had two grocers within a block of each other. We would sneak behind one and grab a hand full of deposit bottles and cart them to the other store to cash them in for ice cream money!
Back then they would just stack them out back for the soda delivery guys to pick up. It wasn't a Gov't program but a means for the soda companies to reuse their glassware.

Back in the day they used to sell bottle cutter kits and you made really nice drinking glasses out of them.

We can't grow up.
