Just ordered an SCR lower with Monte Carlo stock. Anyone else have an SCR? How do you like it? Stock upper or did you build/buy a different upper? Sights???

I ordered just the complete lower from Buds. It was 550 shipped.

I just ordered parts to build my own upper.

What did you build for uppers? Sights? ammo etc?

Heavy barreled uppers with 3-9x40 Nikon Prostaffs on them. The trigger is ok, no worse than a milspec AR but definately not a Timney.

Thanks. I have no problem with a basic 5lb mil-spec trigger. When I handled one of these a few years ago (1st gen) I was not too happy with the trigger. Heard they are much improved though now.

I will be putting a vortex sparc 2 red dot on mine. I would like to get a 20-24" barrel upper also to keep as an option. Probably in 6.5 or 24/45 for that setup.

Nope you cannot replace them yet, nothing on the aftermarket.

all you are doing is causing confusion! Why do you call this a shroud and not a hand guard? I have seen them in the stores like this.

I’ve been eyeing the non Monte Carlo version for my build. On the fence between that or a standard lower with spur/BG trigger guard. It’ll likely be paired with a Stag Varminter upper, if I can decide between 6.8 and .223. It’ll be my do-everything rifle, so I’d like to put some thought into the planning phase.

Regardless, it is totally legal to put a shroud on a rifle. It is only a banned feature for a pistol.

Well @Wildman1024 I love it when a plan comes together! Second shop I hit (Upstairs, I hate those stairs!!) I scored a used but never fired Sporter model, would have preferred the Monte Carlo. But the price was right $599.00 with papers and hard case!

Sell the upper for 350 and build something that will shoot well. Don't forget to keep the Bolt carrier though.

That skinny ass barrel ain't no good for shootin.....lmao might be good for 3 shots before the groups open up over an inch at 50 yards.

they are great. Surprised I can have on NYC license. I don't want to say too many good things about it. never know who is listening. Lol... They are light,can use any upper , just swap bolt into their carrier, good to go.. I put piston kit on mine with Daniel defense furniture, need to dremel a bit,but looks and runs great!
