Its either vote for trump or your voting for Hillary.

We've already had this discussion, so I won't continue to get it into it other than to say it's because of this thinking that most people who have no idea about the voting process believe this. That's why if they like Johnson but hate Trump (or hate Trump more than they hate Hillary), then they'll vote for Hillary. That's how mistakes happen! Don't kill it!

I get it. I have a pretty strong libertarian streak in me. They had their chance and at this point it's a 2 horse race between pure evil and corruption versus nationalism. Trump needs every vote he can get. Yes I know how the electoral college works. He needs every vote. If hillary wins its over.

The best chance the libertarians would have had in my opinion would have been during the primaries to get behind a guy like rand Paul and actively push and support him as a pseudo libertarian/constitutional candidate. He wouldn't have been the truest libertarian but he would have tilted the discussion in that direction. Now they are just wasting people's time and helping Hillary by running a guy who is neither bright nor a true libertarian to give people someone to waste a protest vote on.

This is exactly what I think about voting other than Trump or HRC. It's a protest. I tried to explain this to a co-worker of mine that wants to vote Johnson. Even he will concede that at this point it's a 2 horse race but is insistent on voting for Johnson. My question is why? Do you think that people care that you voted for someone other than the 2 that definitely have a chance of winning? Do you think after elections people are going to say "damn we should have voted for Johnson after all". Or maybe that it will somehow make people think differently/affect the next election? The time to convince people was during campaigning. If you want to stay in the race anyway even though you know there is no chance in hell of winning, it's you're prerogative. But why do the people that vote for the "no chancers" even waste their time going to vote when they themselves know their pick has no chance? This is an honest question if someone would like to chime in. I find write in's even more of a waste of time.

Once a party receives 5% of the national popular vote, they are eligible to receive that percent in federal funding. That's something like $10 million dollars if a party gets 5%.

These are total made up numbers. Let's pretend that this year, Trump gets 47% of the vote, Hillary gets 45%, Johnson gets 6%, and Stein (Green Party) gets 2%. For ease, we'll say that there is $100 million in the election fund.
When the 2020 election rolls around, the Democrats would get 45% ($45 million), the Republicans would get 47% ($47 million), the Libertarians would get 6% (6 million), and the Green Party would get $0 because they didn't get more than 5% in the previous election.

5% doesn't guarantee ballot access. It's up to the states to determine limits. Getting that federal funding would definitely help with ballot access though.

If they win the demographics, which are already bad for republicans, will get worse. She has spoken of open borders and a path to citizenship. You let another 10M people in over the next few years and let's say they start streamlining citizenship, how is a repubilcan going to stop that? Unlike the democrats, republicans are very divided, in part due to progressive-entrenched guilt that they shouldn't feel how they do, so they try to compensate by voting in ways that are not in their best interest.

As for obama pardoning clinton, the fact he hasn't even been asked about it even through his press secretary shows how hopeless journalism is in this country. Simple question "With two investigations going on against Hillary, can obama commit to not pardon her if she is indicted?"
